Motor Trend selects Best Driver's car for 2015

The ACR thread at Corvette Forum is overwhelmingly positive, with the vast majority complimenting Dodge and heaping praises on the ACR. That car is just amazing. Long live the Viper!! Makes this comment seems rather petty and insecure.

Dodge to drop out of racing.

Do you think this has anything to do with the sales failure of the Gen V? Or do you think Dodge was gonna get out, regardless of how many Gen V sell?

Chrysler: Please tweak the $15K Voucher...

I agree. What recent 13 & 14 Vipers would want to trade their car in on a new one? And even if they all do, which is impossible, the numbers of recent purchasers are small. If Dodge REALLY wants to sell the existing backlog, don't bother giving the dealer $15000, and a separate $15000 coupon for...

2014 C&D VIR Lightning Lap Results...Viper TA delivers!

Porsche 918 is the fastest, no surprise there. The porky GT-R beats the SRT-TA, though barely, is kinda surprising. The Z/28 is right there, despite it being heavy, and not much tech (like the GT-R has), very surprising. My question is in regards to the TA and Z/28: Viper is lighter, much more...

    Possible 2016 Supercharged

I agree, those cars are very nice and fast. The problem is they're not reliable, various issues pop up later when out of warranty, repairs are expensive. This is from a few of my friends who adore AMGs, they only lease for good reason. That's also probably why those cars depreciate so much.

    Charger Hellcat too

That will just take sales away from the Gen V. Sigh. WTH is Dodge thinking wrt Vipers????

Hey, at least there's advertising for the Viper.

I've seen a full page ad for the Gen V in Road & Track, and at least couple other mags. However, it's still referred to as an SRT Viper. I thought they changed the name back to Dodge Viper?

Gen V forum posting vitriol discourages SRT/Dodge participation

lawdogg149, I recognize you from the Corvette forum. I'm a car enthusiast, and love both Vette and Viper. I'm considering either the C7Z or Gen V for my next car. It saddens me to see the Viper gasping for air wrt sales figures, and likely its survival as well. On a lighter note, what do you...

If he knows it 's "badass in every regard", what's keeping, or kept, him from purchasing one? Isn't he the demographics that Dodge lusted after, but failed to attract?

Haha, I've noticed this as well. Very prevalent attitude.

    A Note to Dodge

Does Dodge even care to read this forum?

Very close to becoming a part of the Viper nation. Need forum input

I completely understand where you're coming from. However, for some people, the attention afforded by the Viper is unwanted, and can be a nuisance. You like being the center of attention, so you put up with the other issues that OP pointed out. For those who can't stand the attention, the other...

Very close to becoming a part of the Viper nation. Need forum input

If I were you, I'd get the F-Type R and call it a day. It looks and sounds better than the Gen V, interior is better as well. The ride is perfect for a DD.

sad news...viper plant shuttered until end June.

From what I've seen, the Gen V just floors people with its looks. But, like your experience, the higher end demographics that Dodge is going after is NOT buying the Gen V. They may ooh and ahh about it, but WHY is it that they're not biting? Why did that Panamera Turbo owner bypass the Viper...

Let's be real, what would it take? Only short answers please

At the risk of being labeled a "pretender", I will say this: I totally agree that 640 HP is way more than enough, even 500 or a little less. But winning races with 640 HP is not the point here. SRT wants to hear what will make more buyers consider the Gen V. So, even if nobody can use 700 HP to...

    Considering getting a 1999 GTS.

Thanks for all the good replies from everyone. To answer your detailed questions: Gawk factor: Oftentimes I just want to blend in. I don't feel comfortable standing out and be the center of attention. But I guess that's not a choice when driving a Viper. :D I guess I'm kinda worried about just...

    Considering getting a 1999 GTS.

So you're kind of suggesting that I not daily drive the GTS? Hard to get in and out of? Doesn't bother me. I have driven a 2003 coupe, nothing I didn't expect. But my favorite Viper is the mid-late 90s GTS. I don't mind the car being older at all. I just don't know what parts need to be...

    Considering getting a 1999 GTS.

Hi all, I have been driving mostly Camaros and Vettes, some imports here and there. I've always admired the Viper, never bash it, I understand the positives and negatives of driving a Viper, just don't have actual experience. What I know is from reading on this forum. I currently drive a C6Z...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

You are 100% correct in thinking that way. I'm a Vette owner, and from my experience, the Vette owners are FAR MORE complimentary of Vipers than vice versa. Don't see the reason for it, but Vettes are pretty much routinely dissed on this forum.

Stability Control and my 2009 SRT crash

Is this "legal", i.e. will the cops give you a hard time, even a ticket? Sometimes I want to practice some techniques, at low speed, but I didn't want some cops cruising by and see some car slipping, sliding, spinning all over the parking lot.

    Lift bolted down?

You're right, the word "cables" were mentioned in the conversation. I didn't understand much of it or why it was used. That's why I'm hesitant to drill into the garage floor concrete. Maybe those cables under tension are deeper than the bolts will go?

    Lift bolted down?

I was told that my garage floor had something called post-tension built in, and that damaging it can cause catastrophic accidents. What is post-tension and what's it for? Thanks,

I'm seriously getting sick of Vipers being looked down on. Sick of it.

Why does what others think of your car bother you so much? The Viper is a world beating awesome looking car. You know it, I know it, (and I have a C6 Z06 and have much respect for the Viper), enthusiasts know it. Have some confidence in yourself. The car (any car) does not make a person. I'm...

Viper or Z06: Help me decide

Please disregard all the "hating" talk on both forums, you don't need a car to justify your manliness or lack thereof or whatever image you want to project to the public. Here's what I have to contribute to the OP's question. You need to specify your intended usage and your personality to help...
