Thanks for the followup, gizmoxman. That makes sense. Hopefully someone will be able to help you.
While I don't do Facebook, you might consider putting your need on the 3 major sites for wider exposure...VOA, VO Group, and VCA.
The OEM parts catalog for the U.S.A. model ⁰1996 R/T 10 PCM shows a part number for this JTEC module as 4763 639
You might want to call Brian Jones at Jones Auto Inc. in Orleans, Indiana. Brian is a good dude, rebuilds Vipers himself, and has a well cataloged parts inventory that is...
Ray Sweers' Elkhart Viper Gathering 10/19/24...GUEST SPEAKERS from Team Viper...WOW !!!
Here is the latest info on this annual event...straight from Ray Sweers:
"Hello Everyone:
This is very exciting and hard to believe but with the assistance of Bob Swartz (Motor City Viper Owners), we...
Our '03 Viper's AGM Odyssey is 16 years old...and this particular Viper has not been on a tender for the past 14 years. It is charged every 4-6 weeks. The '08 and '10 Vipers also have Odyssey AGM's that are over 13 years old...noting that they are on battery tenders.
To answer your own question about an abnormal draw, use your digital multimeter to perform an Ignition Off Draw (IOD) test. But before you start the test, lower the Viper's windows !!!
I USED to use Diehard Gold batteries in our Vipers...until they started dying at the two year (or less)...
From Ray today:
"Hello Fellow Viper Enthusiasts:
Our Viper Gathering is coming up just 2 weeks from tomorrow. Please consider joining us and if you haven't signed up yet please let me know if you plan to attend.
We will start at 10:00 and end at 4:00. Details of the event are forthcoming...
That drain should work.
As you might guess, draining it hot (with care) helps when dealing a differential without a drain. I like to put in a little new fluid, as a rinse, then drain or suction that fluid out before final fill.
This is the R14 recall. What you described happened to many, many Vipers. Some happened at highway speed.
Note: A dealership recently told an owner that the R14 kits were no longer available. I have not tried to confirm that.
I suggest that you contact your CJDR dealer ASAP.
Recall date...
The "2007 Viper" has come up in more than one location. As I recall, this designation has generally been used by a few people discussing EU vehicles. If I am on the right track here, that may mean the car would be designated by the year of registration by the MOT, DOT, etc. versus by the 10...
First answer is...I don't know a quick answer.
It might be helpful to know the year, model, mileage, mods of said Viper.
Did you check the negative battery cable's connection to the frame? Other grounds?
After that, have you measured resting battery voltage with a multimeter...also need to do...
96McViper, if you send a text to 317-402-9013, I will take a photo tomorrow of our 1996 "McViper" with a ruler along side the Sneaky Pete. By the way, beware of the Sneaky Pete found on the 1997 GTS "McViper" as it is smaller.
As I recall, Tom's original 40mm kits used a sleeve on the 36mm piston to bring it up to 40mm.
For those interested, Tom had full explanations of both form and function of his modification on this site...along with some stopping data comparisons.
Search "40mm" posts by " Tom F&L, GoR".
My guess is that it was an early build that had the original breather hose set up that needed to be rerouted.
Here is a listing of R 29 parts that I looked up a couple of years ago when the kits were on backorder:
"Aside from the oil and SRToil filter, here are the components...
Sammy, welcome to the world of Vipers !!
You have raised the question on recalls...especially for 2013 and 20q4 model years. I suspect that many could write a book here...but is not going to be me today. If you have a Viper VIN to question, go here...
Mikyver13, as Dave said, service manuals for your year are the place to start...and, they are generally available on ebay. Get the printed version as they are much easier to use.
Two rules I make myself adhere to when doing the IOD test on a Viper: lower the windows before you start and begin...
As I recall, when Tom stopped supplying them, a gentleman in Canada started making them...at least for a time. Since I am not sure where this stands now, I suggest that you text me at 317-402-9013 and I will send the contact info for that person in Ontario.
