In my opinion..... The car wants to be driven. If your car was mine I'd go through it like a monster starting with fluid swaps. It would get some road time for a few hundred miles. After confidence, I'd take it for thousand mile road-trip. That or place it back in the museum and let it keep...
Nothing really fits right on a G1.... My advise is to go easy on your modern expectations for early viper. These cars really were throwbacks, almost kit cars. Unless it's really bad, I'd leave it alone.
I don't see the need. If you have and want to spend some $$s to have it done, I doubt it would change the value at all. I think you'd have better fun with it by swapping out the rear gears to a 355. Your car, your toy!!
It's weird seeing this thread pop up again after ten years! I'm not even sure if I'm still driving the same car!! Needless to say, my head gasket swap worked out just fine.
I've done a couple similar low budget road trips from the other direction. (DC-Yellowstone, Grand Canyon etc) You'll have a great time! Stay off the interstates, also, Motel 6 is everywhere but not <$50... Gas station maps are good find! Mom and Pop motels are always a wonder; some are...
Thank you sir!!... That's a good place to start. I'm really looking for pics of each design, a definitive 'what is what' ? ...... I've owned a few gen 1 cars, each with different combinations.
1) stock
2) Vmania top w/ northwest sliders
3) Mopar top w/vipermania windows...
My goal is to...
Really????
I've been asking/talking about leaks for years. Yes, gen1, (sometimes gen2) leak. These are sunny day cars but....
Just stay dry; It's the best advise.
This site is dead after the club split. Perhaps it'll be my mission to search out pics of all the different gen 1 (aftermarket)options.....
OK, I'm on it.
^ :2tu: Pics of the different options, the different types of windows and tops. How to tell the difference etc. Autoform is nice but a PIA to store.
I'd like this to be a thread showing all the different aftermarket products made for the gen 1 vipers. It seems like every car I see has...
It rained like all hell a few years ago on the dragon trip:
I hope you like Jazz (metal's older brother)...

I suggest we start by listing top/ window combination... Or post pics, I hope the forum will tell you who made them.
My '94 has a Mopar top/ Vipermania windows.
Let's talk a bit about gen 1 covers.....
I've had several. They all leak but you early car owners know this (if you ever drive your car). I'd really like to see a solid thread about keeping the water out, top designs, window designs etc.......
Please, let's hear about your experiences....
134a ....
A/C work requires a professional. If you were close I'd help you with it... Take it to the shop! If you have no cold at all.... it needs to be properly fixed not just recharged.
Cheers
Not enough info when purchasing a molested car...
Sounds like a tuning/fuel issue. What cam is in it? Does it pop and burble, maybe a backfire now and then through the exhaust when it 'bucks' on decell?? --- That may be normal with a no-cat car (even stock)....
-Cheers
