This. As someone who worked 'in the industry' for a while at speed shops and have come across tons of built/heavily modified cars, I will rarely if ever buy one myself because the vast majority of the time the vehicle is either a basket case of issues stemming from poor workmanship or it was...
I wish I knew! I ran a carfax on it and just says the following
11/18/2000 vehicle offered for sale/dealer inventory, San Diego CA -19 miles
02/20/2001 Vehicle sold, John Hine Mazda San Diego, CA - 20 miles
03/07/2001 Title or Registration issued - First owner reported - , Virginia DMV (no...
Agreed, and I definitely think that is part of the problem and will continue to be UNTIL the cars get to a point in age where they are considered more “classic”, “vintage” or whatever. That’s where you see that shift from people wanting to mod the car to keep up with today’s cars to people...
Agree 100% any depreciation in value will only be temporary for these cars. One of two things will happen- aftermarket will pick up making them easier to own, making them more appealing to average people which will drive demand up and increase prices or aftermarket WON'T pick up and these cars...
Progress has been painfully slow but steady. Really hoped I'd have the car back at my house by now to start doing a lot of the welding/fab work over the winter (6 degrees out here and only have a small 220v cube heater in the garage so I rely on welding to keep me warm lol).
Chassis was more...
thank you! I may DM you. I don't think there's much I need right now, but once I get deeper into it I may start to find a few things I'm missing and I've still been picking up some parts I don't need when I come across good deals (although I need to curb that so I don't kill the budget for the...
I wouldn't say that people are SELLING them due to cost of ownership. I think people are selling them for a while myriad of reasons probably the same reason they sell any car (bored of it, grow out of cars, want something newer and more competitive etc...). But I do think it hurts DEMAND...
I'm working on swapping a scatpack drivetrain (6.4 gen 3 hemi/8hp70) into my junkyard 00 RT-10. I've got a build thread on it here I believe in the new member section. I test fit the motor a few months back when the car was at my house, but haven't been able to do much with it in a few months...
Bad wording on my part, they still are very rare cars compared to many other sports cars (especially with their history of having a particularly high numbered totaled in accidents) and I do think that SHOULD lead to appreciation in value.
But what I’m saying is there are large number of them...
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this was a direct result of greedy people asking outrageous prices for gen 2 parts. I'm missing a whole lot of my Viper and needed to source a ton of parts, and I found it to be one of the most frustrating markets I've ever seen (and I've built off a whole...
Thank you so much! That’s exactly what I needed and will be a huge help. Trying to get a baseline of where the factory engine would have sat for weight biasing purposes so I can play around from there with corner scales. I’m figuring things won’t change much with the little amount of room I...
Serafins, thank you I’d greatly appreciate that! Sending you my email now. Hard to tell in the pic, but when you say the crank is about even with the front rails you’re saying the center of the balancer is about at the center point of the rails?
Hey guys, I am looking for two measurements from a gen2. They don't need to be perfect but just as close as you can get would help me out a lot with my project.
First measurement is the crank centerline height (looking for the height of the center of the crank in relation to the chassis). Best...
That’s awesome! That definitely sounds like the way to go for hp levels up to what the 340lph pump could support on either pump or e. I’m assuming that’s without a boost-a-pump correct if you’re making 470 on regular gas? I figured the bucket would have enough capacity for at least a 255...
If you haven't already, I would strongly suggest purchasing an rpm switch (or if boosted, a hobbs switch) to activate the boost-a-pump as I've never been a fan of just running the BAP full time. I've seen a few pumps burn out with short lifespans by doing that.
Will you be road racing the car...
Not at all! I appreciate your input (and GTS Dean's as well) and the discussion! It's nice being able to bounce some ideas around, and if my method doesn't work as well on track as I thought it would, at least I will have some backup plans to choose from now lol
Embarking on a strange endeavor for my junkyard 2000 RT-10 build. I was fortunate enough to pick up a set of reproduction headlight lenses for $100 by chance. I contacted an individual who used to build reproduction lenses in an attempt to procure his CAD file so I could 3d print my own, but...
340lph still isn’t that much for an e85 setup though. Again, I know the calculators claim that could support some crazy power but in practical application I don’t think I’ve ever seen one support much more than 475 or so or whp on E, granted an n/a application will do a bit better with a leaner...
I saw someone on YouTube do the window method while dropping a 255lph pump in (non jet) and I agree, I don't think it would be very effective at controlling fuel at all. Maybe good on a street car or drag racing with a full tank, but certainly not for a car that sees hard track use. In order to...
I’m shooting for 525whp n/a on e85, but I’d like at least a little room to grow. I probably could have gotten away with a 450lph but I think the 340 would have been way too small, even with a boost a pump. I know the calculators paint a much different picture, but in practical application I...
Ooops, I think I did recall reading that post and checking out the pumps he mentioned, but the largest one they offer with the jet pump option is 340LPH and that wouldn't be close to fulfilling my fuel demands. Even with a boost-a-pump, that pump would be maxed out at around 425-450whp on E85...
Sorry, not familiar with Dean's method of doing this. Is there a racetronix pump that utilizes a secondary siphon port like the factory Viper pump does? If not, how is fuel control handled (how do you fill the bucket and keep it full?). If I had the stock bucket, I would have likely went with...
I can't believe this didn't sell yet. I am so tempted, but i'd have to sell my 392/8hp70 and then i'll be left trans-less for my junkyard viper project lol
Hood is just SMC right? May be tedious but if you have some experience with fiberglass work it shouldn't be too difficult to repair and repaint, but preventing it from cracking again will is usually the hard part as there's often an issue with support design or heat affected area causing it.
I...
Thank for your input/support! As far as the motor, it's long gone lol I bought the car for 1900 (well 2k since he threw in the other body panels for $100) so I can't complain. I'd love to do a V10/T56, but picking up that gen 3 392/8 speed for 3k, I could cam it and make 525whp for another $2500...
