I have had the honor of being the original owner of a 2001 sapphire blue and silver striped GTS for 18 years, but it's now time to move on. Simply don't find the time to drive it, and it's a shame to leave it sit in the garage. It's set up for light track use, but I never really got out more...
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good Viper mechanic in the Portland area? I used to go to Ted May at Valaya Racing, but moved up to Oregon a month ago. Had one vote for Gresham Dodge, but would prefer someone out the West or North side of town if possible.
Thanks,
Nik
So this wasn't the first time I've done it, but it was the most frustrating. I was swapping in new brake pads in the rear today and well, there's got to be a better way. The difficulty came from trying to screw in the piston into the calipers.
I have the Lisle disk brake tool cube, one side...
I called the *only* "5 Star" dealership in the East Bay area (near SF) to schedule an appointment to have a leaking/defective battery replaced under warranty.
Butler Conti Dodge in Lafayette, CA just told me that the service manager will not allow them to work on any Viper not sold there...
So I took a road trip down to LA from the Bay Area this weekend...on highway 101 / 1 in Santa Barbara on Thursday afternoon, I saw a red Gen III come on the highway. I slowed up my GTS, got a good look, traded thumbs-up and watched him exit again soon after. Saw it from the front, side, and...
Hello Rapture,
Welcome to the club. I'm in Berkeley, where are you?
Anyway, I have strong opinions on this subject. Here goes:
Negherbon Dodge, Oakland - avoid like the plague. Absolutely horrid customer service, terrible technical skills, wouldn't know a Viper if it bit them on the...you...
Don't know about the GTS suspension, but my ACR seems to be adjustable for damping and rebound. There are two tiny dials at the top which have multiple (8?) positions for each. And yes, the car can be lowered although I hear most people don't drop more than 1/2" to 3/4". Hope it helps.
So, it finally happened. Some pusillanimous toad keyed my Viper the other night. Parked in a lit and "guarded" lot while I was at dinner, and the aforementioned putrescent muckdweller added a two foot long scratch down the top of the passenger side rear quarter-panel.
Other than justifiable...
Ok, so I took my Viper drag racing for the first time ever (both for me and the car) at Sears Point yesterday. My results were:
12.470 seconds @ 116.09 mph
Here are my questions:
1. Is it possible to calculate real horsepower from time, weight, and distance? Or do the variables of...

Is anyone going to run in the Virginia City Hill Climb in Nevada this weekend?
If you're driving up from the Bay Area on Friday, let me know, maybe we could caravan.
I hope I keep it rubber side down and between the ditches....
