    Guy's - The noise you are hearing is coming from the rear. Given the close-ness between the driver seat, tranny, and the rear, the whine appears to be around the tranny, but it's really coming from the rear. Trust me, I too thought the whine was coming from the tranny...not so, it's the gears...

    Depending on the condition, it could be anywhere between $1500 - $2000. Then you have to consider shipping which can be expensive because you have ship it freight.

    Yep...been there and done that. I experienced the same annoying whine with 4600 miles on the car. Solution, took the car to Jason Heffner's shop and had the stock gears replaced with 3:55's. End result, no more whine and more seat of pants acceleration.
