You probably are not buying a gt500 for look over the gts, so... if it's all about usable and reliable power, then probably you'll be much happier with a nicely modded Evo. I'm a terrible driver but I do feel safe (relatively) flooring that 10 second beast.., and it costs about 1/3 of the $67K...
I had a 2000 ACR ~7 years & 9K miles and love it. It does help eliminating a few of the "I could have..." thoughts. Then I could have bought a surpercharged one to start with ... it had consumed me enough that 3 years ago I actually added a paxton + exhaust + header ...etc... then I could...
I haven't seen this car up close, but I have seen it on high way awhile back. It's very amazing, shiny, especially with those wheels. If I have to complain, it would be the stock exhaust tips.
My 2000 ACR comes with Koni Shocks. All were rebuilt too. If I remember correctly it has very early build date. When I put the supercharger on, the tuner told me that early 2000 ACR comes with forged internal -- there's no fixed rule it's just the availablity of parts.
That's really nice! I've just got married 2 months ago and we drove our viper on wedding as well. My wife hates it on daily basis but for the wedding she actually insisted that I drove her in it... no one can deny its beauty! comfort is different story :)
8 years ago I was thinking exactly the same. But over time it changed. Now I think a Diablo SV or Diablo GT, Saleen S7, Mercielago, and GTS-R looks way better than any GTS. A wide body NSX and mega-wide body porche would look compatible. Still I would never sell my GTS for any other car.
Please post update and instructions. I've been searching recently but found little to no info about this. My GTS's front feels scarily unstable at only 135mph. Pics and list of parts would be great. Thanks. BTW, skip pics of the fat gf please :)
I was facing the same decision, and went the paxton path because of the smog regulation in California. It's very quick but doesn't "feel" that fast -- doesn't have that rush of when the turbo kicks in -- it's addictive :).
My setup: paxton on creampuff ACR (though Ted told me it's surely not...
Not buying a new car, just going to pick up my old viper from the shop. This is the second time I've ever felt so exciting about picking a car. First time was when I bought it 4 years ago totally stock:) It's finally going back home after 3 extremely long weeks with a Paxton, Belanger...
I've been resisting the mod temptation for 4 years now. It finally wins so I took my car in for quick inspection and plan out the supercharged setup.:omg:
It'll be paxton with Belanger headers, high flow cats, and corsa cat back. The parts will arrive in a week and I should have my renewed toy...
I've rebuilt all 4 koni shocks. Last I spoke to the service center it's only $150 for a typical rebuild. 2 of mine were leaked for awhile and have rust so they had to change the internal/rod (not too sure what those are), total is $1.3K for all 4. I have it almost 4 years now, 6k miles, no...
I would stretch a little more to go for one that you truly love so no more what-if or I-could-have...:). Twice I have made lesser choice and regretted, ended up paying alot more to upgrade. The drive is really depends on road condition obviously :) Here in California, it's day and night...
Oh Lord! This setup can sucks in a rabit and spits it out unharmed.
That will surely pass visual inspection in California:)
Looks amazing! ... that exhaust manifolds, huge pipes, and the snails - tasty!
It's easy not to race when you know certain of the outcome.
I bet you won't be able to resist if next to you is a Veyron :)
I think people track-race to race the driver, and street-race to race the car.
Have any of you listed your viper then changed mind? I listed my 00 GTS/ACR nearly a month back, never got a call,... but somehow I feel very glad that it happens that way :) I just took it off the listing. It was such a good feeling!! I'm going to take it out for a long drive tonight --...
I don't think the leaking on these ACR shocks is related to height settings. Mine leaked awhile ago in stock height. I later rebuilt and lower it a bit. You can't really lower it much. If I recall correctly the lowest it can goes is about 1 inch. I definitely recommend lowering the GTS...
