Air conditioning my 1993 RT-10 Viper

Due to the *very* windy cockpit of such an open vehicle (and the puzzling placement of the factory dashboard vents in Gen1 RTs), it's hard to keep the cold air inside the vehicle. With the top attached, and the side-curtains locked-in, it is barely effective - at that point there's a lot of...

Need tips on selling my 96 rt10

On the hood thing - back in '96, they were busy re-tooling things to make the GTS... plus these cars were built by hand from the inside out, which was unconventional as well. Go to your viper and open the door, you'll probably see that they had to use shims to make everything line up. It's...

Need tips on selling my 96 rt10

So my auction on fleabay ended with zero bids. Lots of people trying to lowball me though.... like this guy - I saved the texts: (1 hour before auction end) Him: Hi I'm the guy that had been emailing you on your viper rt/10. Im from Arizona and I dont mind the gas gauge or the minor issue as...

Need tips on selling my 96 rt10

lol yeah you guys are right, I do need to take care of those gaps between the hood and bumper. It was always that way, so I'm guessing it just wasn't fitted right at the factory. It's just a couple little bumpers that you can turn to adjust the clearance, right? That fog light is cracked...

Need tips on selling my 96 rt10

I have a 1996 RT/10. 58k miles. Black/silver stripes. Clear title, no accidents. Besides the radio, the only mod is the PS overflow tube, although I replaced the PS unit as well. Owned it for almost 6 years, but since I only drive it a couple times a year nowadays, it's time for someone...

    Snake hissed at me

I second BadAsp2. I've had to replace the coolant crossover gasket, and all you need to remove is the cowl and windshield wipers - it may make it easier to maneuver your hands in there if you remove the intake manifold. Depends on the size of your hands, I guess.

Engine and Tranny swap from 06 Viper into 2000 Viper

I'd like to revive this thread. I have a 1996 RT10 with 50k miles. I plan on putting a lot more miles on it, I love it too much to let it sit in the garage. When the engine goes, I was thinking about dropping the new(gen4?) engine/trans into it. Personally I like the looks of the 96 the...

    Gen1 shuddering after shutoff?

Thanks, good idea, dunno why I didn't think of that one. It has 49,000 miles. I've had it for 3 years and don't know the last time they were changed. Still gets 18mpg city, ~25mpg hwy. I will get them changed though... recommendations on which plugs/wires to get? Also, anybody know the best...

    Gen1 shuddering after shutoff?

96 RT10, after I turn it off, it shudders for maybe a half second. Has been idling a bit rough too, but I just chalked that up to the different climate since I recently moved. Should I be concerned about this?

    Melting Gen 1 Headlight Switch...

Re: Melting Gen 1 Headlight Switch... I found it a bit difficult to remove the old connector - here's what I had to do: -unscrew the panel underneath the steering wheel -pry the old melted connector off the switch - I had to use a flathead screwdriver -while pressing the small button on top of...

What's in your bag of tricks?

Oh I've been there man, but only in my old acura! In the owners manual of the Viper, it actually says not to do that though, but it doesn't say why.... Have you ever had to do it?

What's in your bag of tricks?

Thanks, yeah... I have to give credit to my wonderful girlfriend for the working cellphone and the helping hand in keeping the clamp open, and to my dad for the idea to stretch the hose. Awesome idea on the jumper cables! Why didn't I think of that... 3 years and haven't needed them - yet

What's in your bag of tricks?

So there I was, at the saddle where Glendora Mountain Road and Mt Baldy Ridge Road meet. Stopped to take in the view, and saw clouds coming out from under the hood, much to the entertainment of the bikers there. Opened it up and noticed that a radiator hose had sprung a sizeable leak next to...

    This weather is killin me

My '96 has sat in the garage for a couple weeks now. It's fun and runs great, but between the black paint-job, the black un-vented leather seats, and the dismal AC system, half my body is wet with sweat by the time I get out. Putting the top on helps marginally, but if I'm moving at all, the...

    This is so f'n common....

Re: This is so f\'n common.... I think the word "not" shouldn't be allowed as part of the title on an ebay auction. It needlessly muddies search results and I see no purpose of it other than to get more "hits" for SEO-savvy people. What if I have a competition-coupe? That wasn't in the "NOT"...

So With All This Speak Of MPG, I Have A Question

Avip: Thanks for the encouraging words :p The Equus is a mechanic's tool, while mine is more for fun. Mine fits F355's requirement for the distance-to-empty and it's small enough to be mounted on the dash. Yours is better for diagnosing Tiger's problem. They both have their strengths and...

Ketchup and Mustard on EBay... here ya go chad...

1792 miles... that's a shame. Are these vehicles destined to sit in garages forever? If I lived in Florida, I'd drive mine every day.

So With All This Speak Of MPG, I Have A Question

I don't know about the prob w Tiger's, but in response to the original query... I bought a mini computer that plugs into the OBD2 port(Just under the dash above the clutch pedal) on my 96 RT/10 - you program a few variables(engine size, tank capacity, etc) and it will tell you the exact...

    Gas Mileage

So I'm sitting with my work buddies and they've all got trucks of various kinds. I'm telling them about how I got 24MPG on the highway while averaging about 75mph. (stock 96 RT10 with the top and windows) So of course they start joking and asking if I was drafting Ricky Bobby. How does such...

    08 Viper

On the initial design, Lamborghini wanted to completely redesign the V10 and make it DOHC but Chrysler said no because it would cost too much(or so I heard). Now that the Viper has earned market-share, I bet they're going through with this finally. Since Chrysler no longer owns lambo(VW does...

Put in Fram CA8093 Air Filter and 97 GTS runs like crap...

So what's the deal... fram air filters get more crap out of the air but don't give as much performance? I've been told to avoid fram like the plague, but if it's going to prolong the engine life I'd go for it. This much power is gonna get me into trouble real soon.
