    2008 conv VS Mercedes 55 AMG

    I own both an 09 SL63 and an 08 ACR and the SL is slower but the SL63 is much easier to drive fast. With the new 7 speed its not that far behind the Viper in a straight line.

    I am going to use the R6 tire and hope to get close to a season of track time out of them and use the cups on the street.

    Thats a great price. The Cups do burn fast. Im getting another set of sidewinders to put Hoosier tires on for the track. In the long run it will be cheaper than replacing the cups three times a season.

    Gears and HP

    Also what benefit did lambo and the amg get with using taller gears (2.__)? I think the trans ratios in the AMG & Lambo are shorter and make the overall gearing closer to the viper.

    Dude! All I am saying is that the car is GEARED to do 325 so chaning from 3.07 to 3.55 isnt going to give up any top end. Top end is limited to other factors like drag & HP. Where did I say it could do 325? :rolaugh::rolaugh::rolaugh: Sorry dude but I thought the calculators would help you...

    The top speed with factory gearing at redline in 6th would be around 325mph. 6th gear at .5, 3.07 rear, 6200RL & 345/30/19.

    Your numbers sound about right when compared to magazine reviews and other posts on the VCA. A gear change might fix the launch problem. Does anyone have 2008/09 1/4 mile times with 3.55s?

    Messed up!! I had a car stolen as I waited for it to come out the other end of a local car wash. When it came out to be dried it kept going. They found the car and it was repaired but it was never the same. I'm sorry for your loss but it might be better totaled and insurance paid for then...
