Oooh, I actually beat Joe C on this one! Evan Smith can make an 11 second car out of ANY Viper! He is one AMAZING driver!

If the Cobra was tweaked even a bit, Evan could take full advantage of it!

I've seen Evan slide a car through autocross pylons sideways, so that he's set up for the next gate!

Could be a ringer, but Evan Smith is worth a good .4 or .5 compared to what most anyone else will achieve, especially on that track. I expect the typical magazine tests to produce times more in the 12.9-13.0 at 110-111 range. On the other hand, the car should be easily tweaked via a new pulley, exhaust mods, etc. to produce another 50 rwhp or so. There are already quite a few blown Cobra's out running around, but the easy answer is simply to follow TOOFST's advice and mod your Viper--550-600 rwhp in a Viper should be more than a match for all but the most radical 'stangs.

1bad, there is some truth in what you're saying about scooping the magazine, but only if you know that Evan asked the guy to keep it to himself. Compared to MM&FF's circulation, the number of people who will read this on the net is quite small, and I tend to think that if MM&FF was really that concerned about being scooped by the net, Evan wouldn't have shared the info at all (at least he shouldn't have).

As further evidence of how good Evan is, I got my latest edition of Automobile magazine yesterday and their testing of the '03 Cobra resulted in a 13.4 quarter at 109. Now Automobile seems to produce fairly slow times (their "unofficial" acceleration results on the '03 SRT-10 in the same issue only produced a 4.4 0-60 and a 12.4 quarter), but a full second difference is way too much to explain away without giving Evan a lot of the credit. The man can definitely drive.
