Looking to spark up ye olde 1992 Viper audio cassette deck with some less hissy tunes from the iPhone.

Have a cassette adapter which works well to connect the audio line out from iPhone to the tapedeck (thus into the car speakers).

However, have tried several brands of USB adapters to charge up the iPhone from the cigarette lighter to have longer playtime, but can't seem to find one that works to get power (the cigarette lighter seems too shallow).

Anyone figure out one that fits? Cheers

There are two types of outlets, those that work with a a lighter and all other plugs, or a recept that only works with non-lighter inputs. It is not uncommon for the connector on the male stud on the rear of the recept to come off. You have to pop off the surround trim in the center of the console to get to the rear of the outlet. I would check the fuse first it is located by the drivers left knee.
