Hey Everyone. I just picked up an 06 FE Coup from another board member here.

The car has the full bellanger exhaust system (Headers, no cats, magnaflow mufflers I think).. and it sounds amazing over 4K. I really like the purr it has, but its way too loud for my driving style (draws too much attention).

What are my options as far as quieting down the system while leaving the headers on the car? I am not opposed to putting the crossover on either.

According to my research, keeping the bellenger headers:

Bellenger (magnaflow mufflers): beyond loud.

B&B Catback: May be my ideal option. Others stated it would be one of the more quiet less-restrictive cat backs.

Corsa Track: Very loud as well, maybe less loud than magnaflows?

Any other options/ideas?

Thanks!

Cats will help a bunch as stated. Lou may be able to provide you a quieter muffler option also give him a call I'm sure he can recommend a fix since he has listed to about every combination there is out there.

Throw on a set of Random cats and it will quiet down quite a bit. Glad to see you made it over here! Congrats on the new ride!

Yeah Lou has some muffler options, and yeah, add back the cats that he sells, you'll lose liek 7hp, but it will be much quieter. This is the system on the 08, and I would say I'd like it a bit louder, so you might be in good shape.

I too found the full Belanger system too loud on my 2006 Coupe.

I tried another muffler that really didn't cut the noise much.

I left the cats in and it was still too loud.

I ended up putting the crossovers back on (with cats). It's still loud at WOT but very good when cruising.

I'd suggest you try putting the cats back on first.

I recall reading some where about exhaust cones that you can insert to quiet the noise.
Try doing a search or perhaps some one can chime in reagrding this.

They're called Vortex cones and you can find them at Summit or Jeg's. I don't think they're going to quiet the exhaust down much, if at all. Maybe a few decibels but I doubt it'll be enough to make a difference.

Keith,

Car looked and sounded great yesterday. It sounds BAD A$$ at WOT on the express way but alittle to loud day to day..

Good job on holding your own last night against Pete. :headbang:

I now need some mods to keep up with you.:2tu:
