Broken valve spring

Is there any way to identify the valve springs, I got a broken one, but my engine build
sheet just says heavy duty valve springs, going to change with head on,and i dont want to change the whole lot.

Did you drop the valve down into the cylinder and hit the piston when the spring broke? That's the danger of a broken spring.
If one broke there's a good chance another will follow or not function properly.

Same thing happened to me. Luckily the valve stuck in the guide....
The good news is that new springs are fairly cheap. For some reason, Viper tax hasn't hit the valve springs....:dunno:

Be sure while you are changing the spring to check your push rod for straightness as well as wear on the top and bottom. There should be a reason why the spring broke (this isn't a 40 year old muscle car). It is possible it wasn't assembled/adjusted properly. Also take a close look at the rocker for wear.
