It may go on, but the windows will not seal. If you get stuck in a rain storm you will get wet. Do youhave a soft top?
Do a search, many detailed posts on this. The main difference are the pins up front that go into the window frame. IIRC, the older models had shorter pins.
As 99 RT/10 said, it will fit on the car but the windows will not seal well. I know from experience because I bought a hard top that I was told was from a Gen1 but later I found out it's a Gen2 top and it fits my 94, but the windows don't fit at the "A" pillars. Here's the Gen2 top on my 94 I have the top for sale in the classified section.
