Emissions/saftey inspection

I've recently moved from Birmingham, AL to Memphis, TN. I'm wondering if there will be any emissions or saftey checks to go through when registering my car. I don't have cats and I also have the dreaded windshield wiper motor problems where they just quite working one day.

I still have property in B'ham and was wondering if it would be in my best interest to just renew my tags there if Memphis is stricter on giving out tags.

P.S. The car won't be in Memphis until I get a house bought.
