My car is in for the dreaded 01 water pump issue.
when under throttle i can watch my temp gauge which has always sat at 190 for 8k miles jump.
to 230 only stopping because
i take my foot off the gas for fear of overheating it.

so i take it in and my tech calls the DC rep.
they said they have NO 01 water pump issue!!??? ***?!! are they kidding?
and they tell him to pull the pump first check for cracks and then order a pump if cracked.
he refuses to pull it with out one here first .. so they give in and say okay order the pump.

but get the load of bull they tell him....

these are NOT sports cars they are exotics that run 230 all the time in Arizona.

This is Buffalo not the desert.
Unreal the crap you have to go through sometimes....

i call the dealer about my running hot it look like it is at about 230 and they said with this kind of weather that it should run that hot and may run to the red mark but not hurt anything. I am going to take it to another dealer that has been working on it to see if they kind find something wrong with it.

you burp your cooling system? does your car cool down at speed? if it is slow to cool down at speed, you probably have air in your cooling system......

RedSnakeGTS,
dont think we have any air in the system, it was burped. it cools down the second you take
your foot off the throttle.

thanks

dude, screw your dealer... go to mine and get it done. I can probably return my spare pump to them for a refund, they will restock it, and put it right into your car.

PS- may want to consider swapping your coolant again when they do your pump anyway. I just learned yesterday that the new Mopar Long Life (red) coolant is even better than Dexcool. I picked up some yesterday, and I am putting it in.

Jim,

when you get the pump replaced and the car back and it still overheats, shoot me an email. I can direct you on what is really going on and why they are covering it up.

Man, don't leave us all hangin. Give it up to all of us. We all need to know. Sounds like some kind of DC Conspiracy or Vipergate going on.

Last weekend I was over at Bobby Archers Shop in Ft Worth Texas.
He has a fix for the water pump issue. He has a redesigned water
pump impeller ( stock ones are plastic ) that is susposed to lower
the temp 10 to 20 degrees and will not free spin...

The impeller is billet and is press fit. Or he has new pumps with
the impeller installed.

Might be worth a look at.

Just a thought, but it could be a head gasket issue too. A free spinning water pump would have those symptoms but so would a gasket leak that would heat up the coolant when you are on the throttle. Have you checked for that? I know head gaskets were a Gen I issue but its possible on your car too.

went to the dealer friday to have them check to see if my is over heating and we look at the book on the cooling system to see what it should run and what temp will the fan will kick on high and the book said that in warm weather the temp will run 3/4 to the line by the red mark and fan will go on high speed at 216 so it is normal for them to run this hot but if it is at that red mark I would have dc tell me why its is running that hot. know matter what the book said it should no run that hot.
