First off i will eventually make a full detailed post about the car and everything that happened once the lawsuit is over. At this time i do not want to post pictures or any info unless its necessary. But long story short my dad had a prototype viper, 1 of 1 car and a part of viper history. we're the second owners of the car and it was built by Paul Andrews and Peter Brock. We took the car to get inspected three years ago and the owner of the shop's pill head son (i know him through friends) took the car and hit a tree doing somewhere in the neighbor hood of 90-120. It has been a long battle determining the value of the car and the insurance company fighting us at every step of the way, drawing out this fight as much as possible. there is one last thing we need before trial and thats a way to prove how fast he was going. no cops were around to witness the accident. all we have is the damaged remains of the vehicle. So please if anyone knows a viper engineer that can determine speed from the wreckage and pictures or if anyone knows anything about the ecu/air bag module of the car and is able to retrieve crash data from it, it would mean the world to us. this car is extremely sentimental as it was my dads prized possession and he passed earlier this year. Any help is greatly appreciated.

edit: its a 1997 gts so it is obd2

Contact Tom Sessions. He may know how to retrieve the information from the computer, assuming the car is 96 and newer(OBD II). JonB and Chuck Tator can probably help with proving the value.

Best of luck , my father in law was throughout the same ordeal with insurance i regards to his 94 750il BMW that he purchased new in 1994 and had only 50k miles when someone tboned him 5 years ago. it took him literary 2 years to settle with insurance that wanted to give him nothing. Now the big question to you guys, why did not you have agreed value insurance for the viper? things could have been so much easier...

its a very complicated story as we had no idea what the car was worth or even that it was a prototype, so it was just insured as a modified viper at 70k. after having it appraised after the crash they valued it at 135k and we looked more into the history of the car and found out all this stuff.

this is the only viper daytona gts-b (the B short for Peter brock as this was a tribute to the daytona coupes that he designed). motor was built by Hennessy with the 650r and had pennske racing shocks and some other suspenion mods as well. this was going to be a very limited run of 25 cars before chrysler dropped the program.
