Thrilled to be part of the community, and here’s a quick, vital question for those with experience: as an owner or expert, what advice can you share on maintaining a collector-condition vehicle? (It’s emerald green with just 15,600KM on the clock.)

Warmly,
Jay

1) An automatic battery tender. I have a Ctek charger plug that I can reach into the front bumber to connect easily.

2) VP Racing Ethanol Shield Fuel Stabilizer if you store it for the winter.

3) There's an air vent on the power steering cap. Attatch a hose to it and strap the hose in a 180 turn so that if fluid sprays out the air vent, it drips to the road rather than spray on the hot exhaust.

If their oem speakers, those paper cones are disintegrated. You can only tell once you take the surrounds off.

You may develop a long crank on cold start. I put in an additional inline check valve after the fuel filter. Some people pull the tank and and change the fuel regulator (which also contains a check valve).

There's not much out of the ordinary. Oil changes and the occasional bottle of fuel injector cleaner.

What do you think needs to be addressed?

These were very helpful, and I was not aware of them previously! Thank you. Regarding the mufflers, would changing them solely to achieve a deep muscle car sound instead of the current UPS truck sound be advisable? Additionally, do you recommend painting the aging panel on the front dashboard, given that it is sticky and appears worn relative to the vehicle's mileage?

Re: muffler. That's just personal preference. I like the stock sound just because it's an odd sound for a car. I would rather change the cats to high flows so the heat stops bubbling the paint on the rocker panel.

I've heard that the front dash gets sticky. It hasn't happened to me yet. I have a thread titled "Gen 1 Audio Upgrade Thread". Within there I have detailed instructions and pictures for getting the dash out. It's not too hard. I actually referred to it yesterday to install a dash cam.

Congratulations!

I've had a 1994 for about two years now. Love it, and have been waiting for the weather to cool down to get back to driving it (it' a rare no AC one). Change all the fluids and keep it on a battery tender and it should be very reliable. It has about 11k miles and has been bullet proof.

I agree that you should leave it as original as possible and enjoy the unique sound of sitting in a Hoover vaccum when you accelerate. I would also leave the dash alone, as long as everything else is original.

As stated, make sure tires aren't old and keep up with Fluid Maintenance.
Enjoy the car.

All your suspension bushings and rubber parts are 30 years old, look to replace. Also, fluids like clutch, power steering, trans and rear end might still be original, chance them all
