Does one need to install a new "tune" on the computer when replacing the stock air intake with a K&N unit? On my Shelby they recommended against installing any Cold Air Intake system without modifying the "tune" on the computer......

Thanks in advance,
Lance

A re-tune isn't necessary. I ran with just the K&N intake on my 2005 for a few months without issue. Also, don't expect much of a HP increase with just the intake. :)

Yep, not needed, but I can tell ya a tune, like one from DC is a real bang for the buck. It made a huge difference for the $ when I had my Gen3, smoother, cooler, crisper, all good. A nice next mod option, but definitely an option.

BTW I have a '11 Shelby GT500 too, great car, I have about $2200 in the car & 587rwhp.

Dave.

The GT500 Convertible was a great car.... I was probably around 550 - 575 rwhp...... It was my every day car for 45,000 miles... It's easy to get big HP gains on the Shelby...... I traded it on my 06 Viper to drive everyday........
