Just bought a 2004 Vert, at what RPM do you all shift for best performance?

Hey guys,

I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I'm curious what RPM everyone shifts at to get optimal performance. The car seems to peak and then start losing power after 5600 RPM, yet the speedometer doesn't show the car redlining until around 6,000-6,500. Is this just a case where the odometer redline marks are just a bit off?

TIA
Alex

Agree with Allan about redline, though with my older Vipers I found shifting around the 5500-5700 range , right where you feel it start to lag some, worked best for me -- taking it to redline was of no real benefit in most cases. If you do some mods like gears and an aluminum flywheel , it will spin right past that area and you will find shifting at redline becomes common.
