Just want to help you guys out, I just picked up 4 5 quart jugs of Mobile 1 15w50 for $19 at walmart. I was told they will no longer carry 15w50 so they are running a clearance on remaining inventory. I may buy another 2 jugs.

What's your beef with the oil? It stays 15W at low temperatures, and gets more viscous with increasing temperatures. That's what multigrade lube does.

15W-50 is all I've ever run in my Viper, with drain intervals that equal or exceed 1 year - even when I was tracking the car 5-6 times a year. Regular oil sample analysis confirmed that the extended drains were completely justified for the ultra-premium lubricant. I will be buying several jugs.

I believe 15w50 and 0w40 are the two most recommended weights for vipers?

My Gen 1 takes 10w-30. Would 15w-50 be fine? I only drive in warm weather.

I was just across the border and picked up a few jugs of 15-50 at Walmart, although I paid 25 bucks a jug... Hope there is still some left the next time I go down, I'll pick up a few years worth of oil changes..

    Thanks for the heads up!

In the owners manual at least for the 09 ACR, it specifies 0w40 for normal use and 15w50 if tracking.

All us track rats use 15W-50. 10W-30 M1 is not the same as it was in 1996. Been discussed many times over.

For summer, 15-50 is totally fine. Challenge is for winter...the 15 actually does take longer to reach the valvetrain upon startup than does 0-40.....just a second or two, but for summer its absolutely no problem.

$24.95 for the big jug of 15/50 out here in Kalifornia. Wasn't there a thread about cheap Mobil 1 from Walmart a while ago that mentioned the oil being partialy out of spec???
