So when I was 20 I got this wild idea that the best thing in life I could possibly do was buy my dream car, a 96 viper - blue with white stripes of course. 7 years 1 month and 12 days later after having quit a job to start a company at 20 that I thought might be able to let me afford one I finally got to do exactly that. And so began the obsession.

Of course, when buying your absolute dream car and fantasizing about it every day for 8 years I decided that no stock viper was going to do for me! Oh no, and an ACR wasn't special enough and bunches of people have super chargers and turbo setups that sounded like a bunch of trouble to me... so what did I get?

As far as I can tell, I belive this is a one of a kind every day streetable (of course I'm only driving it once a week right now) viper with what I believe is the Individual Throttle Body intake manifold off of a GTS-R racecar from Team Oreca... I was told by the former owner that this was in fact a manifold off of a race winning car!

The car is totally built for road racing and has been a ton of fun but I would really love to learn a little bit more about it so here I am on the forums.

Has anybody seen this before? Does anybody know about these intake manifolds, any way to verify the history on it? So far, all I have figured out is that the plexiglass window on mine that shows the ITB's is not how the team oreca vipers were, they were solid carbon fiber covering these beauties. Everything else is a mystery.

Thanks!

"Does anybody know about these manifolds" you ask ?!?

Yes, that GTS-R intake was actually sold by Mopar. We sold TWO of them, and the MSRP was $15,591. Dealer cost was about $11,000. There were actually TWO versions and part numbers, for Race and for Street. Street was $15956. Some details:

-Claimed to add 80HP when used with the GTS-R heads, [which you probably have?]
-Race calibrated version +100HP and allowed higher RPMs
-2.25" Throttle bodies times 10
-One-piece casting for each cylinder head to ensure proper port alignment
-Carbon-Fibre intake plenum and 'rain hat' which was cut open to rivet clear panel on yours
-Built-in fuel rails

Your intake looks like the hennysee of that era.
