Our first of 2 Karting days at Oakland Valley Raceway.
Come on out and "waste" OPC's (Other People's Cars)!
Karting is great fun and Oakland Valley has a terrific track. If you haven't tried this before, you're in for some memorable thrills. All you need is supplied by the track. If you've got a helmet, bring it. Jacket, helmet, neck brace and gloves are all available. The track is 1/2 mile of pure fun. We've got the whole place to ourselves from 10AM to 2PM...which is a LONG day of 50mph+ Karting! :headbang:

Fees are $100 for members, $125 for invited non-members. Children 10 and older are generally allowed (ability permitting), however the track has final say.

Meeting: NYS Thruway (northbound) rest area at exit 6 (immediately following the first toll at Yonkers). 8:30 AM

The drive to the track is about 40 minutes from the rest area.

Scott:

Are people without licenses allowed to participate in this event? I know the one in Boston required a license to use the karts. Reason I ask is because my 16 year old brother would love to do this.

No I read that Scott, but I did not want to get up there and then they say no. He drives fine but just wanted to confirm before sending payment.

Miss Spirit's driven there 2 years running.
If you're that concerned, give them a call.

Just got an e mail from Mike at Oakland:

Keith:

They need to be 5'6" and no younger than 14. There is no age limit...i figure you meant age minimum.

See you guys next week!

Mike

Just wanted to clear this up for you guys and myself. See you guys next week!

I heard Sanjaya is planning on racing if he doesn't make the next round of American Idol, in the past we knew him as Tiger Keith. Hopefully he can race better than he sings!!!
