RT/10 Gen 1 A/C

Hi everyone!

I’m currently planning to install an A/C system on my 1993 Dodge Viper RT/10 (Gen 1), which came from the factory without air conditioning. Since I want to make sure I get this setup right, I’d love to tap into the collective wisdom of the group.

For those who have installed A/C or converted a non-A/C Gen 1 Viper, I’d really appreciate your insights on a few key points:

• Compressor & Bracket: Which compressor model do you recommend (OEM Denso 10PA17C, Sanden SD7H15, etc.)? Does anyone have part numbers or CAD files/measurements for the mounting bracket that bolts onto the 8.0L V10 block?
• Installation Manuals: Is there a copy of the original Mopar dealer installation manual or a detailed step-by-step DIY guide floating around for the Gen 1 A/C retrofit kit?
• Interior / Evaporator Setup: Did you manage to source factory under-dash/evaporator components, or did you go with a compact aftermarket universal HVAC unit?
• Tips & Pitfalls: Any specific gotchas regarding belt length/alignment, custom hose routing, electrical wiring (trinary switch/relays), or engine cooling performance?

Any photos, diagrams, documentation, or advice from your own builds would be hugely appreciated!

Most were dealer installed via a kit from Dodge 30 years ago or more. You need to broaden your reach to find knowledge . Try some of the FB viper groups or reach out to long time knowledgeable viper techs like Dan Cragin or Eddie Martin
