I have 96/rt 10 and I was considering someday getting and SCT scanner. I saw that the scanner allows you to remove the cats. Between the SCT scanner and removing the cats is there much HP or torque to gain? also how much do you gain by just removing the cats? :dunno:

As one of its features, the SCT tuner turns off the secondary 02 sensors and/or associated check engine lights in OBD2 cars. I am pretty sure your early OBD2 car won't throw these lights with the cats removed. That being said, do you have emissions inspections in your neck of the woods? If so, even though the SCT turns off these fault codes, you will NOT pass an emissions inspection.

Hack away ;)

FYI - No cats = LOUD. I currently have straight pipes and will be installing some HF cats as soon as I get time (they've been sitting on the shelf for 2 months).

Deleting cats was the best thing I've done, noticable difference in first gear.:drive:
Also have the SCT scanner, fan kicks in sooner.
Power wise :dunno:.
***** the gas big time.Full gas tank in 50 min on the road course.
Will be taking it down the 1/4 mile too see what gains I'm getting.
