The thread size on a stock (OEM) shifter is 1/2 inch 20. An aftermarket Hurst shifter is also 1/2 inch 20 threads.

But I recently purchased an MGW 'Cue Ball' Shift knob which has stripes and a Sneaky Pete logo on it, but the shift knob comes with a Metric thread so it did not fit!
I got a friend who is an engineer to run a thread cutter down the Cue Ball knob to make it fit :) (10 minute Job, if you have the right bits).

The MGW shift knobs are all the same for Vipers, they fit the stock shifter or the MGW one.
Thanks for the info Mark :)

I wonder why the Cue Ball comes with a Metric thread then?
Heres a bit of the email I got from Julie at MGW

I know the Cue ball knobs were big with the Pony car crowd, maybe the threads are the same for the Mustang and not the Viper?

For Information, these are the Cue ball knobs I am talking about.

You will have to get the thread taped out to make it fit the Viper shaft! No idea why!

Maybe someone from MGW would explain why? :eater:
