Once the ideal tire pressure is determined for a particular situation, why not use a pressure relief valve to ensure you keep that pressure? Is it common practice or is there a good reason not to do it?
Hitting a pothole or a sudden change is direction would exert a temporary force on the tire increasing internal pressure and thus releasing air from the tire.
When you return to a normal driving condition you would be under inflated.
