Windshield Replaced - Interesting Find

I'm having the windshield replaced on my '03 SRT/10 today. Once the windshield was out the installer found that there was a line of silicone along the bottom where the window is mounted. He said he was surprised there weren't issues with wind or leakage because the adhesives they use for the windshield do not bind to silicone. He stopped what he was going and called his boss to ask for advice.

What's up with that? Did the factory run out of urethane or some other proper caulking product?

Are you sure this is the first time the windshield had been replaced?
