Hello all

is there an advantage to lowering the car?
does it have effects that outweigh the potential damages from being so low?

Normal street driving will be the use....

Most probably do it, because it looks better with less wheel gap in the fender.

Pros:
Better looks, lower center of gravity for more stable cornering, better aerodynamic performance.

Cons:
Cost involved with correct shocks/springs, cost involved with proper alignment, worse clearance for driveways/speedbumps, ride quality can suffer if not done correctly.

I've probably missed a few things, but these are at least some of the high points.

Most people go way too far when lowering and it makes for nervous handling. Keep it modest. If you are primarily wanting the wheel well gaps to tighten up, then going to 27" tires will do that. You can run higher aspect ratio sidewalls on your current wheels, or plus-size your wheels and keep a short aspect ratio. More sidewall gives you better rim protection if you have to deal with bad roads and potholes. Taller tires may want a lower gear in the diff, like a 3.55.
