RESULTS - WANTED VS RANGER - VIPER VS C6Z06 (PICS)

Lee, Because of Torque Management on a stock C6Z06, switching to DRs from stock tires don't change the ET much. Generally less than a tenth.. They are more consistent though. Using my launch technique, my 60' will generally no vary more than .03 on DRs. More like .08 on stock tires. My best...

RESULTS - WANTED VS RANGER - VIPER VS C6Z06 (PICS)

I had 500+ passes in C5Z06s and routinely cut 1.6x 60' on DRs. The Stock C6Z06 has a factory-set Engine Control Unit (ECU) with a feature called Torque Management (TM) that pull power (timing) on a strong launch and returns the power in increments. The purpose of TM is NOT to help launch...

I RACED W/NEWZ06 SUNDAY, WARNING SRT10 ITS NOT GOOD NEWS

No, Casey, I have't. And I subscribe to the general view that it takes 30-50 passes in a particular platform to get dialed-in. And then about 10-20 to get completely comfortable in a different version of the same platform. So for me to find my ET bottom in a Viper would take 30-50 passes. Ranger

Thanks, Gary. And since the CF days, you've manage to assemble an awesome group of Jason's TT creations. Congratulation on the acquisitions and the passes. I watched Jason put some test passes on one of his early TT at Capitol Raceway and was almost dumbstruck at the acceleration the car...

Thanks for the kind words, gents. Have learned through the years that car guys, even of cross-brand species, usually learn stuff from each other. But the keyboard some times gets in the way. Ranger

I RACED W/NEWZ06 SUNDAY, WARNING SRT10 ITS NOT GOOD NEWS

Thanks for the kind words, Black SRT. Powershifting is very much a mixed bag. (1) Power shifting won't lower your times unless the traction is extremely good. That generally doesn’t happen on Corvette stock tires. On drag radials that are well-heated and with very good track prep, traction...

I RACED W/NEWZ06 SUNDAY, WARNING SRT10 ITS NOT GOOD NEWS

Was asked in a PM to elaborate on the content of a typical check list for the drag strip. Here goes: After Tech Inspection Adjust front and rear tire psi to conditions. (log numbers) Change fluid in clutch master cylinder if it’s less than perfectly clear. Conduct at least ten sets...

Hi outnumbered. Thanks for your kind words a few posts earlier. Warfang has hurled invectives my way on several threads over time, Nothing new about his hostile attitude on this one. Suspect his discourtesy toward guests is a habit members are aware of. Ranger

Among severely traction-limited cars, I certainly agree that it will always come down to the drivers whatever the venue. Times will vary dramatically depending on the skill and experience of the drivers. Ranger

Quite the contrary. Were you to use the search function, you'd see that I've been drag racing my Z06s for the past five years and posted here in Spring 2004 after attending one of Jason Heffner's track rentals at MIR. A great time hanging with car guys. Mine the only Vette. So I've been posting...

I RACED W/NEWZ06 SUNDAY, WARNING SRT10 ITS NOT GOOD NEWS

Typical trash talker who's not representative of the greater Viper community, nor the community of car guys. Lacking any notable accomplishments with his car, it seems quite pretentious that he should be attacking anyone that has some. Is there an ignore list feature on this board? Ranger

It a total of 525 passes in my current and last two Z06s. My last Z06, a 2002 with 350 passes and 30K miles sold at a premium because it held the ET record, and had a clean maintenance history, full doucmentation, and a new clutch. Its new owner is delighted. A car that makes it through 350...

I RACED W/NEWZ06 SUNDAY, WARNING SRT10 ITS NOT GOOD NEWS

I just got back from hauling the week's groceries with a stop at the liquor store and the indian market. So these fast cars make fun daily drivers. The magic is driving well enough that you never break anything. I now have about 525 passes at a cost of two pair of rear wheels and three pairs...

And Happy Easter to you, KWIK96. Nice to see such good will and charity in your attitude for the Easter holiday. I previously asked you to post your accomplishments with your Viper. You have not replied to that request; so I'd suspect your driving skills fail to match your screen name and that...
