I felt I should close this out and possibly save someone all the hassle I experienced. I contacted Dennis and Dave at Roanoke and told them about my I/M Monitors returning to not ready. Dave contacted Chrysler Tech and was told if the voltage at the starter drops below 7.5v the monitors will go...
I'm back and must have an issue other than just driving the car. I finally got all seven I/M Monitors to "ready". I verified this with the car's on-board test method. I also hooked up my scan tool and it also showed all I/M ready.
The car sat in my garage over night. I took it to inspection...
Bought the scan tool. Drove the car around in traffic...stop and go...for 50 miles. Now I have one I/M monitor "not ready". The other six I/M monitors are "ready". So all I have to do is figure out what driving pattern is required to put the Evaporative System Monitor into "ready" mode. Any...
Thanks very much for the assistance. I'm going to buy a scan tool today. I've got a 1999 Trans AM sitting in storage for a year with the battery removed. It has to go to inspection too. I'll see if the T/A acts the same as the Viper. But first the Viper. Hopefully I'll get it to "ready" after...
No, I won't be at the autocross. Thanks for your offer to discuss. I believe you are correct in that I need to make more cold starts and trips of varying types. How weird is it that I have to drive the car many more miles than normal and emit more pollutants....just so I can pass an emissions test?
Two trips to the testing facility each preceeded by 200 mile drives and I still can't get my 2003 to ready status. The printouts read "not ready". I've searched the topic and find others have had this issue. How many miles need to be driven and under what conditions? Has anyone tried for a...
Install your Hurst shifter and use a 1/2-20UNF threaded ball only. The Hurst
shifter height is perfect. I just did the install on my SRT. Good luck.

Does it matter what gear the transmission is in when you remove the old shifter? How did you get the new bolts into position below the drilled
3/4 inch holes.....use a magnet or reach into the tunnel opening?
Congratulations on finishing the installation. I was about to install today
until I read your post this morning. I wanted to see how things ended for you.
I drilled the 3/4" holes today.....I'll save the shifter part for next weekend.
I'll buy some lithium grease too!!!!
Did the 90 degree...
Does anyone in the club have a connection at Mr Gasket in Cleveland, Ohio? It
would be good to have one of their reps address our installation and operational
issues with the Hurst shifter.
I made a cardboard template using the base of the Hurst as a guide and thought
I could lay that on the tunnel in close to the correct spot.....I'm afraid
to go back to the garage now, however!!!!!!!
I've taken some digital pictures and will have to write some detailed notes to
give to anyone...
Thanks for the link. Those instructions are up to year 2002. I'm working on
an SRT (2003). It appears an earlier post was by a 2006 owner who had the
same install issues as GEN 1 and 2 owners. Did you notice any SRT specific
instructions?
I'm just going out to my garage to finish the installation
on my 2003. I'm lucky to have seen this post. My instructions
don't say anything about the rotation patterns you are mentioning.
The instructions are FORM P4510168 8/04. What is the date on your
instructions?
I have not drilled the two...
I am familiar with the MGW product, however, they will
not provide just the short shaft without their ball. I'm
looking for just a shorter shaft threaded so I can
easily change the ball without lifting the console.
I was certain a few years back someone on the forum
advertised various shifter...
Is anyone currently manufacturing a shorter shifter
shaft, threaded 1/2"-20UNC on both ends, for the
SRT? I started to install the Mopar Hurst shifter
P4510168 this weekend but decided I might try the
shorter shaft with the "Hurst" thread on ball first.
