Cut the guy some slack already. Is this a car forum or a court of law? I think it is wonderful to support established vendors but you guys took this issue way too far on this newbie- to the point of extracting an apology. I wouldn't have taken the crap you guys dished out so readily. If you want...
Hey guys- I just traded for an 04 SRT and need to bring it to Dodge for the 04 recall issues and odds and ends as the car only had 2000 miles on it and the original owner never took the time. Anyway my old Viper tech went to Chevy and I am trying to avoid Miami and the hour drive. Any of you...
Guys I know Doug and have met and talked with him a few times and I agree he is awesome. My question was focused more on whether any of you had supercharged a non forged internals motor with Doug, and if so what stage setup and how has it held up. The quality of his work is not at all in...
Those of you who have a creampuff who may have gone with a DLM stage 1 or 2 please chime in. I just completed a forged & billet build on a Mystichrome Cobra with about 750rwhp but am ready to move on to the Viper soon. I went way overboard on the last project and would like to do a fairly...
Re: Final Edition or \'97 Blue/White GTS ?? State your case!
Thanks guys for the different perspectives. You guys are great. I'll add some fuel to the fire- I have little ones who love to go for a blast with Dad- the FE has the passenger airbag switch which is nice. It also has ABS and...
Re: Blue or Red Brake Calipers on my Black GTS, and a few other questions..
I say go with red calipers. They just look hot. I like silver stripes on black but that's your call.
Final Edition or \'97 Blue/White GTS ?? State your case!
Here's the deal- I have an '02 FE #304 with 2000 miles on it that is absolutely mint. I also have always wanted the 96-97 Blue with white stripes. The older models have forged internals including pistons which the "creampuffs" do not. I...
Re: FASTER THAN A VIPER-Two snakes are better than one
I am a proud 3 time Viper owner, but also own a 2003 Cobra Vert that Steeda Serialized for me. The truth is that for 43k total which includes 5k of bolt on engine and chassis mods- the Cobra is one bad snake(for well under 50k). Quite...
Re: Gas Guzzler Tax is Bogus, We\'re Getting Screwed.
your analysis is mathematically sound. the problem is that the tax code can not assume that every driver will drive the vehicle 2000 miles a year, so the tax is based on mpg. Still, overall a pretty valid point.
I have exactly the same problem, and I have the cert. I do not question the performance of the SRT, but the yellow GTS is so HOT, it gets tremendous looks wherever it goes. The lines are truly classic. Time is running out. Decisions decisions.
I love my 2001 GTS as many of you do, and am glad I ordered the SRT also(as some of you are). I agree the GT-40 looks dated. If more certificates were out there I bet there would be less criticism of the SRT and more people embracing this state of the art, contemporary beast on wheels. Which...
I stopped briefly at the local Chevy Dealer looking at a Z71 surburban, but spotted a brand new Z06 out front with only 3 miles on it. The salesman threw me the keys and off we went. It is a fun car and a value for the money, but a Viper it is not. It's got a SissyMary clutch with way too soft a...
I agree it sounds like a fork. Have you missed a gear lately?? Chips don't warm up, lubricant does which helps(only mildly) overcome the physical challenge that a bent fork poses. Good Luck
Friend- take my advice and don't do what you did on the 98 RT-10. I told you then that disconnecting every other sparkplug wire and dropping the hammer to redline was a bad idea. Worse yet I could not believe it when you disconnected just the left bank of wires and redlined it in reverse. No...
Matt- I am on my second '01 GTS. The first had a very annoying lifter tick, especially at 1500 rpms in the first 3 gears. At 250 miles , it was evident to me at all rpm ranges. I used to build motors and have a sharp ear for this stuff. Some friends thought it was normal- I said no way. My tech...
The debate rages on regarding new engine break in. What has been effective or conversely problematic on 2000-2001 Vipers? Naturally the owners manual is useless. I varied rpms and avoided the excessive revs during the first 600 miles but I can tell the car is still changing. My buddy said...
Congratulations- 2001's make a fair amount of valvetrain noise which seems to be normal. Some have had cam problems during break in I have learned. That does not change the fact that it is a great car. The car will progress thru various stages of break-in. My 2001 is still changing, getting...
My arrow rebuid was back in two weeks, but more time is common. It was super strong, but I had already negotiated a new vehicle and Daimler bought it back. The new car is not as strong , at least not yet. Good luck.
Valvetrain problem on 2001\'s?
My viper tech has informed me that due to complaints of past squiemish viper owners who frequented service depts in search of a smooth idle, a decision was made to put a Rhodes type lifter that would compensate for rough idle during low RPM's by absorbing more...
