    My 5 sec. running against a DB9.

Andrew, At least you didn't shift from 5th into 2nd. About 8 years ago, I was driving a 97 Camaro Z28. I was going about 75 mph on the freeway and tried to do a quick downshift from 5th into 4th. I missed 4th gear and caught 2nd by mistake. As I let up on the clutch, the rear wheels locked...

Whats some funny comments you've heard from passengers in your Viper?

Re: Whats some funny comments you\'ve heard from passengers in your Viper? I've gotten the same reaction from several friends and my wife. The typical comment after the ride was over was "I knew the car was fast but holy $***" My 2 1/2 year old son took a ride with me and he had a big smile...

Fastest I have Driven my Viper

88 MPH? That's a strange top speed. Are you afraid of activating the Flux Capacitor and travelling back to 1955? ;) I've hit 115 a couple of times, but fear of losing my license keeps my normal cruising speed below 90. I love going 0-100 down a clear on ramp, but then I back off the...

Chased by the Georgia Highway Patrol................

No kidding Warfang. When I was living in Philly, it was simple to get a carry permit. I was able to avoid getting mugged once because of my 380. CA seems to prohibit everything except medicinal pot.

What is the strangest or BEST reaction you've had to driving your viper?

Re: What is the strangest or BEST reaction you\'ve had to driving your viper I hear you about traffic. I commute from the East Bay to San Jose. I only take the Viper on softball days when I know I won't be heading home till 8 pm.

Where were the $35k GTS's when I was looking to buy? I now know to call WANTED when I buy my next Viper.

What is the strangest or BEST reaction you've had to driving your viper?

Re: What is the strangest or BEST reaction you\'ve had to driving your viper I did have a teenage guy make a comment to me while he and his cute girlfriend were getting into his pickup. He made a referrence to me needing a Viper to make up for my lack of manhood. I said to his girlfriend "Do...

About to sell my 98 GTS.. What is it worth?

Assuming the car is in pristine condition and hasn't run NOS, I'd say $40-45k based on the prices they are selling for in CA. Someone actually paid close to $40k for a 94 RT with 50k miles and a blown head gasket here in California, so you could get lucky and get more from the right buyer.

What is the strangest or BEST reaction you've had to driving your viper?

Re: What is the strangest or BEST reaction you\'ve had to driving your viper I guess people in the S.F. Bay Area must be a bit jaded, because noone has offered me sex for a ride, and I don't get the frequency of attention mentioned by others on this board. I do get a fair amount of stares, and...

    Murcielago

I know what you're saying about the Hondas (especially ones with rediculous looking spoilers and paint jobs). I'm willing to go over the speed limit, but only to a point. I was driving on 580 and some jacka$$ in a weird looking Honda begins tailgating me in the middle lane. A hole in...

Aftermarket product for your Viper you wish someone would make.

I agree with everyone who wanted a cup holder. Even in a serious driver's car, a man gets thirsty and doesn't want to risk spilling on the seats. I also think a small dead pedal would help for more extended drives on the freeway. Although I never shift early enough for it to matter, the...

    99 versus 2000 cam

If we're talking a difference of +/- 5 to 10 HP on an engine that puts over 400 HP to the rear wheels, variation from one vehicle to the next is more than enough to account for the differences observed. Not to go too far off topic, but how active is the N Cal VCA? I recently bought a 98 GTS...

    Opinion on Vanity Plate

I agree with those who said focus on the car, but its your plate. Your car can get keyed if it comes across as pretentious. (I know a few people who used to key cars when they were still in high school 15-20 years ago). That said, it's a minimal risk.

    Cheap Blue and White Viper!

The listing looks legit, but I'm always wary of buying something like a used car over the net. The seller mentions that the car is NOT currently registered. You should find out what penalties if any will be due on the car to get it registered. That may explain why the car has only added...

    New Owner

I just recently purchased a 98 GTS in Northern Cal. 12k miles, Red, Borla exhaust. This is the car I've wanted for quite some time. I thought my 99 Firehawk was fast, but this is something else. You just don't see Vipers too often, which probably explains all the stares I get. As someone...
