Since it doesn't snow or rain, and if your near the coast you wouldn't even have to worry about A/C, I think you could daily a GEN I if you wanted to. A gen II? No problem.

lookup the difference in chrome vs polished weights on the same rim and you'll have your answer. It is a myth that these type of coatings add any signifigant weight. So the answer is that if it adds weight it is most likely in the tenth of a pound per rim like chrome.

don't the new '08 heads flow about the same on the intake side as the LS7 heads and more on the exhaust?
I think I saw a post somewhere where the 08 heads flow ~340cfm at .600 which is close to the ~350cfm the LS7 heads flow. Although with 10 ports there is no contest in overall headflow.
