I understand that Chryco changed the cam and/or the cam timing on the 2000 cars. This made the car idle smoother.Does anybody no if this was done with cam timing, or with a cam change, or both? What I am wanting to do is to make my 2000 gts idle choppy like a 96 gts, sooooo do I need to advance the cam, or change it to the 96 part# cam?
Thanks in advance!

It was due to the cars needing knock sensors at idle speed for the newer year 2000 guidelines. With the older car's idle, this was not possible. The new cam combined with lighter pistons (partially due to help cold start up emissions) caused the 2000+ cars to idle smoother. A side benefit was the elimination of NGR. I doubt there is a quick or inexpensive fix to your question.
