Guys, this is a nightmare.
The headunit will not support the cd changer on its own.
We have tried different fm modulators and nothing wants to plug into the 01 radio.
the vipertech has calls (3 of them) into DC which have not yet been returned.
if anyone has done this please tell me how, Alpine actually told us yesterday that we may have to
"splice" it together.
And i don't want to do that

Here are the parts we are using:

CD Changer Part #82202700
Installation Kit Part #82205891
FM Modulator Kit Part #82202292

Thanks
Jim

I had a cd changer from Ford in an exploder and had moved it into a grand cherokee and it had to be spliced. Find a radio or electronics place that does repairs for dealers in the area they can prob handle it thats who did mine. not really a big deal. I though that the mopar changer just plugged into the radio.

SylvanSRT,
i thought it was plug and play too.
I dont even mind that it is not. I will use the FM mod no big deal but that doesn't even fit.
and i really dont want to splice.
if it comes to that i will probably do without.
thanks for the idea.

Hey jimandela:

I have tried this as well but they said that it can not be done. The radio does not support the changer. I bought the changer and was already to go until I found this out. Did you ever get this to work or did you just out in a new head unit system?

F355,
After my vipertech made many call to DC no one ever replied with a yes or no answer.
And then I even called Alpine, they said that we could splice it in.
I decline and returned the unit to the guy I bought it from.
Way too much [******] headache, it was suppost to fit and be a easy install
and was a [******] nightmare!!!

Wow. That could be a pain. I just spoke to a few other VCA members and they said that they could splice it into the FM antenna and that one of the channela would be the CD player. I think I am going to go to Buhler and see if he can do this.

Thanks for the info

Keith
