Re: Any pic\'s of a GTS with 19\'s and lowered ?

Hey Choice:
Awsome looking indeed!
I see you have it as a "daily driver"; with it having only 5 inches of clearance (before lowering), after lowering it:
1) Does it handle/ride differently?
2) Did the 19's throw your speedo off?
3) Any drawbacks?
I do think filling those wheel wells in looks good (up to a point) but have wondered if it presents challenges for daily driving...looks great nonetheless

Very nice !

How much is it lowered ? Springs or coil overs ?

Fast for Life,

I have a few questions...With the Penske coilovers, do you need to have the shock serviced every year per Penske guidlines? I inquired about the setup and was turned off after learning you need to remove and have Penske rebuild (change shock oil) and recharge(the remote nitrogen canisters)on the coilovers annually (whether used hard or not). Also, how much ride height adjustability you have with your setup? Thanks again for any help.

Re: Any pic\'s of a GTS with 19\'s and lowered ?

The pics were taken when I had Eibach's Pro-Kit springs. I've since changed over to ACR Koni's but it looks the same.

1. Ride was too stiff for the street on the Eibachs. Seemed to handle better.
2. Speedo was calibrated after gears and wheels.
3. A harsh, bone jarring ride with the Eibachs, and the rears would rub the fender wells on the slightest bumps at speed.

I ended up with the adjustable ACR springs/shocks. Fully adjustable including ride height. DC Performance tuned them perfectly and I couldnt be happier.

I think the Red one is lowered to a perfect height. Probably too low for the beautiful streets we have in New York(why should our streets be in good shape anyway ? We only pay the highest taxes in the country).

Nice pic's...

Re: Any pic\'s of a GTS with 19\'s and lowered ?

I advised Forgeline about GTSs rubbing when lowered. The fender will catch the wheel about 1/4" in. I asked if they had any way to correct their overaggressive backspacing, and they said no, except to machine 5mm off the hub, but that wouldn't be 1/2 of what is needed.

I recommend HREs for lowered cars.

If you are using 19" wheels on a lowered gen1 or 2, then you should really think about going with a lower profile tire. A lower profile tire such as, a 25 or 30 series, would probably eliminate the rubbing that you are experiencing with the forgeline. I have a 20" wheel on my car, it is lowered and I don't experience any rubbing at all. Good Luck!

Re: Any pic\'s of a GTS with 19\'s and lowered ?

A lower profile tire kindof defeats the purpose of trying to fill up the wheel well. Plus you have to deal with harsher ride. I didn't notice a big dif in ride going from my 18s to the 19s because the profile was the same.
I would also bet that the startechs, from what I've seen, have a better offset than the forgelines. The diameter of your Startechs with 25 series tires is probably pretty close to 19s with 30series. The 19" HREs don't seem to have a problem either with the 30 series tires. JUST FORGELINE (I hope forgeline is reading this.)

opnwide, now that I think about it, the 19" forgelines are the only wheel that I've heard of that has this problem with lowered vipers. It should be interesting to see how forgeline work this out. They are some great looking wheels for the money.

HRE 543 with I believe Eibachs (were on car when I got it). Scrapes quite a bit and rides like crap so I am thinking of finding some stock springs to raise it.

I love the black wheels on the yellow GTS. I wonder how they would look on my final edition... I'd love to lower my car but it would scrape on everything. I scrape enough as it is. I don't know how you guys drive a lowered viper anywhere.

As far as living with a lowered Viper, you just DEAL with it! Most people would think we're nuts driving such an impractical car to begin with. My front facia is not going to win any beauty awards, but I track my car as well. I just tell people its "track damage". That gets more respect than "my driveway has a little dip by the curb". When I'm ready to sell, I'll spend $300-400 and have the front repainted.

Twinvipers, which ones did u order?
PhoenixS4-GTX, the 543 wheels look awesome on your car!
My front spoiler is a little less than 2" off the ground with about 3 fingers clearance between the tire and fender well. If i had ordered 20", i might have been able to get more spoiler clearance.

Thanks. The centers are the same color as the car but look a little lighter in that pic. I wish they were the "R" wheels like your with the larger diameter centers, but hey, they were on the car (I'm WAY to cheap to spend that kind of money on wheels). I am getting ready to refurb them with a breakdown, rim polish and center repaint. I have never been a fan of black centered wheels but your car looks really nice, especially with the flat "R" rims. I don't think it would work in you had a non-stripe car though. The stripes matching the wheel centers is a great package.

If you don't use the Pilot 345's, the Forgelines won't rub. I'm using 335/25/19's on my red car and it's lowered 2". My blue car has 355/25/19's with no rubbing at all.
