Seems that most have gone with Corsa. I was leaning that way, but made an impulse buy of a Borla cat back system. It is being shipped to me today.

I've had Borlas on an f-car and a Lotus and was happy with the quality and fit.

I've looked at all of the old posts concerning exhausts, but couldn't find anything specifically commenting on the Borla cat-back or comparing it to the Corsa.

Anyone care to let me know what I can be expecting?

Thanks,

Dirk

When I asked JonB the same question he wrote the following:

"Borla quality is the issue. 2 folks melted fender splash shields and hated the obnoxious drone. We stopped STOCKING it after that.....they both traded to Corsa.

Perfect fit-finish.
Expansion solutions
Drone / resonance cancelled
Awesome tips."

I have Borla. I never heard any other system so i can't compare but it's loud enough for me. No complaints here, go for it.

Ouch!!

Anyone want to buy a new, still in the box Borla at a discount??

Seriously, I haven't been able to find an opinion from anyone who has the Borla's installed. Surely, there is a Viper out there somwhere with Borla's on. Or maybe they've all been pulled and replaced with Corsa's.

I'd just go with a Corsa instead of having the chance to have some problems. Try to cancel the order and go with a Corsa!!

I had Borla on my '97 B/W GTs and liked it a lot. Yes some drone. Great sound though. I have Corsa on my '02 RT/10 and its too quiet from idle up to about 2000 rpm then sounds good (I'm told)up to red line. Will probably change back to Borla.

I was told by JonB that Corsa was the way to go if you want to avoid drone in the cockpit at cruising speeds, and that sold me. I like to listen to some tunes when cruising. I also don't want the neighbors going nuts every time I start the car in the morning. The Corsa sound great to me on other cars.

Let me know which route did you go. I am also planning to put Borla on mine, but I think I'll wait 'till you have yours. :headbang: :2tu: ;)

Corsa has my vote...do hope the Borla works for you though. Post a sound bite when you get the system installed...

If drone in the cockpit while cruising was the only drawback to the Borla, then that would be fine with me. For me, a long cruise is 5 miles down to the Food Lion. That’s the extent of my cruising. The Corsa selling point for me will be JonB’s mention of melted body parts. The thought of melted body parts brings back nasty memories of my 1996 F-Body after I installed Arizona Speed and Marine headers. Heat from those headers melted the windshield cowl on that car. I can do without that kind of excitement.

I got the Borla and installed it last night.

Obviously I haven't had time to put many miles on it. So far, I am very happy. The install was easy, except for removing the crossover pipe.

The sound is not much louder than stock except during hard acceleration. At idle the volume is very similar.

The sound is a much deeper tone and sounds to me more appropriate for the beast.

I haven't experienced any drone or resonance at cruising speeds.

The fit was good, but after driving about 50 miles the pipes seemed to have moved and I'll need to readjust the position of the tip and tighten them a bit more.

I installed the Corsa Track system and took my time to center the exhaust tips in the opening and tighten all bolts to spec's. After road testing the car I saw the tips had moved. I was ready to remove sills and re-tighten the bolts when I noticed that after the exhaust had cooled the tips became centered again. My only conclusion is that the Stainless expands when hot. Has anyone else noticed this?

Did it seem that the tips had moved farther to the rear?
That is what the Borla tips looked like after my drive this morning.

I, too, am all prepared to remove the sills and re-align them. If I go back out to the car and see that the tips are centered again, now that things have cooled, then I won't have that fund job of removing the sills.

Yes! the tips had moved to the rear. I really took my time to make sure they were centered and tightened to spec's. When they cooled the were centered again. Must have something to do with the stainless expanding.

Yes...just align cold with the expansion in mind, torque things back to spec and you should be just fine.

For me, the Corsa Track has a great sound on cold start. I also like listening to tunes while crusing, but the Corsa Track (with top up) truly does drone. I have discussed this with the Corsa people. It is not a new...concern.

Overall the sound is very cool and so are the door sills...that was worth the price of admission.

I suppose with a Paxton, the car will soon sound like a combination boiler and tea kettle.

I have never figured out how you can talk to your passenger after the Corsa Track is intalled.

I had Roe racings Borla Exhaust installed (05 VCA Edition) along with their insulation Kit. Its louder then stock for sure. If you want louder then its for you. I have Mopars new Borla Cat back Exhaust to install in Spring(04 Red) It's supposed to be a little quietier. I'll see. Get Roe Racings Sill Insulation Kit. It's not expensive and it works.

Dirk,

Assuming you have a SRT-10,but your profile doesn't say. There are various answers to folks responses , depending on what model Viper you are installing the system on. Let us know?

Yes Bill. I have an 04. Took it on a medium length weekend trip. The Borla sounds pretty good to me. It was pretty loud at cruise, but not to the point that it took away from the enjoyment.

Although we have snow today, Saturday was nice and sunny. Had the top down for awhile. The sound was awesome and has improved greatly in about 300 miles since the install.

So far, none of the horror stories that I read about the Borla have surfaced.

I'm very happy with Borla! I asked a very Good Viper Tech what is the difference, aren't they are just pipes? He said there isn't much if any. I asked then why is Corsa more expensive? He shrugged and said he doesn't know.

I had the Borla system installed on my 2000 ACR and have been very happy with it. Dave at Sean Roes did the installation, and the Borla system was recommended by Dave. Yes, it is rather loud, but I love it. The drone at cruising is not all that bad.
