Anyone have problems with you fuel sender?

My fuel gauge is bouncing all over the place. Has this happened to anyone here?

98% of the time thats a bad sending unit

that's what i figured. Do I have to drop the tank or is there a hatch?

there is a cover on top of the tank underneath the carpet that you remove for access to pump/sending unit assembly

The fuel level sensor seems cheap. Is that usually the problem? Are all the years interchangeable 96-02?

I though pump and sender were a unit together. Last I checked there were no Gen 1 units available.

I have a gen 2. Anyone else have experience with this problem and the fix? Mopar puts the in tank level sensor as a separate part in their parts diagram.
