It's an weird year to exclude, but it's not my car. The 2000 has been the year I have been avoiding since I started actively shopping, none forged motor and no ABS.

So, what you really meant was "1999, 2001, 2002", if you are avoiding the "2000"? :dunno:

My mistake and apologies. I guess I got thrown off when I saw that someone actually didn't want an '01... :smirk:

2000 was the ONLY year I was looking for (because of the steel gray) & I know, yaw are probably tired of hearing it. And not having the forged pistons or ABS didn't really matter, cause I'm never going to do any super or turbo charging to it anyway. But, even though it is a creampuff I couldn't see me letting it go for 35k (though the mileage is starting to get up there, it's up to 10k now! jmo

Same reason I bought my 2000 GTS, had to have Steel Grey!

Not that mine is for sale, but what is the reason for not including the '98? Has the 708 cam and forged internals...only (slight) downside is the stock wheels are 17's rather than the 18's they started putting on in '99.

Just curious.

1999-Last year for forged motor, no ABS, 998 & 999 recall
2000-cast pistons, no ABS, 998 recall, first 200 built had cylinder wall issues (mine took 9 weeks at Arrow to fix)
2001-cast motor, ABS, water pump impeller issues
2002-cast, ABS last model year

I love my 98 GTS but I have the later 18" wheels. I do like the door panels on the 99's and up better but the sound of the 708 cam is intoxicating.

I thought the water pump issues started in 01 and included 02, no? Or is it just some 01's or all 01's?

Explaining Viper things to you
Man, this thread had me worried...just bought a 2001 and was starting to think...did I miss something...did I get the wrong year...:omg:

Yes. All people (and aliens) that have 2001 vipers (+/- 15 hours) are idiots.

Now the national association of people that help idiots sends 2001 Viper owners (exclusively) out coupons to take to the custom t-shirt shop to have shirts made after they change their pump. Failed or not.

I got the hat too. I'm like epic now.

Signed, Dave, 2001 GTS owner with kick ass shirt, hat, and water pump.

Oh, and I gots ABS too ladies.

I gots my shirt too, Put on the new pump last winter. I was scared :hypno:
Though there was nothing wrong with mine. I just wanted some heat. Come to find out I just didn't know that heat only comes from the defrost setting. Oh well. I do love piddling under the hood as much as driving it.

I have a 2000 RT how do you know if your viper is part of the 200 first vipers as you explained.

2000-cast pistons, no ABS, 998 recall, first 200 built had cylinder wall issues (mine took 9 weeks at Arrow to fix)
