I just had the Sparco seat adjusted in my GTS. It is bolted to the floor in a fixed position. Archer originally installed the seat. It was all the way back which was not a very comfortable position but it was very sturdy. It now has a more comfortable driving position, however since the seat back does not rest against the back of the cockpit like before, it flexes or rolls at the shoulder area. Do any of you have a Sparco or similar seat installed and does the seat flex in this manner? Thanks.

I can not comment on Sparco seats but in race cars that use Butler Built, Kirky, LaJoie, and other race seats the back of the seat is fastened to the saftey cage of the car so it has no movement. The whole seat is part of the safety structure once it is bolted in.

As Robbie has stated. You will need to figure a way to reinforce the back of the seat.

Thanks Frank.

When I said above that " The whole seat is part of the safety structure once it is bolted in." Please keep in mind that one should use aircraft quality fasteners and not the cheap grade 5 & 8 fasteners that you buy at an automotive store that are mainly made overseas. Both Stock Car Racing and Speedway Illustrated Magazine has had a lot of wonderfull articals on how to properly install belts and seats.
