Passenger footwell it is, unless you have a custom stereo shop mold you a new rear panel with the ten " sub opening in the center.
Right now I have two JL 6" subs in the rear center panel, but I am thinking about having a shop mold me a new piece for the back so I can at least put an 8 in it.

Unlike most cars, putting the subs in the trunk of the RT is pretty useless. The footwell is your best bet in the RT, or like Ed mentioned, the back panel; if you have a custom job.

P.S.

Putting the sub in the footwell will give you the best sound.

Re: Best place to install a 10

Just use one sub in the footwell. You can't (I guess you can) just use ANY sub. To get the best sound buy a sub that uses MINIMAL air space. Build a box that ergonomically fits snug in the corner of the foot well (facing AWAY from you). Pop that sub down into two ohms and your set. Keep the other sub for a spare or sell it. If you take the roof off of your RT10 often, don't even try to get bass. If you keep the roof on, go for it.

Re: Best place to install a 10

I had a custom box made for the footwell where a tall person's feet would be, passenger side, of course. I have one JL Audio 10" sub, powered by a large Punch amp. Top off or top on, I have enough power and sub to overpower wind, engine, and just about any other noise that might interfere. I was told to not even try the put the sub in the trunk, as there is too much of a barrier between the cabin and the trunk, and no noise would make it to the cabin. I, however, would like to try anyway, as I've never seen a reply from someone who tried...hope this helps.

Thump?
Don't crap up the car so much that you will feel bad looking at it when you grow up.

I don't know, but there sure is a heck of a barrier between the two spaces. I hate those guys who pull up next to you at a stoplight, and all you hear is the license plate rattling, and some poor music. On the other hand, I love NOT hearing anything but my music running down the road at, say, 70mph.

Re: Best place to install a 10

Thanks for the pics.

Only thing i cant seem to figure with your setup is what is that thing that says kenwood on the top of the dash?

Also the foot well is good for 1 sub but what about a second?

Also does it cut down alot of leg room?

is there any room on the side of the console directly opposite the door speaker but in the console side (like where your left leg would be if you were the passenger and right leg would be if your the driver? or is something there to prevent you from putting a sub there?

Thanks

STUGOTS has already nullified this consideration by being an official Toys 'R' Us kid.

Re: Best place to install a 10

STUGOTS, my setup is similar to AJT's, except that my box is molded, out of fiberglass, and covered to match. I, too, wanted to put two tens or two eights in the footwell, since that was the only real option. However, the sound from a box properly built, with the right sub and right amp, will produce more than enough sound. With the gain control the Punch amps come with, you can turn it way down, or turn it up so much that it will sound like what two 18's sounded like back in the old days (1985-86?) of stereo. If you figure out a better way to install the sub(s), please post here, so I can explore some other options...thanks.

1. Dash- Sirius Antenna
2. I put second between the seats where the factory one
is, & sealed up the back.
3. Yup, you loose leg room. My wife is like 5' 4", so now she has something to push her feet against under BOOST while she is screaming. I am in my car alone a lot & if someone besides my wife is there, they enjoy the ride so much I have not had 1 complaint.

Re: Best place to install a 10

I think you can fiberglass in the factory one without changing the look from the outside. I like to jam & with the footwell sub & the center it does great! I would try that first, you can always add on later.

That center piece looks nice. I would like to have one with a glove box. Just no storage anywhere.
