I replaced my fronts with Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's about 6 months ago, and now the rears are just about ready to need replacing. I have the stock Michelin Pilots on now.

I want something that hooks good, but is still a street friendly tire. Should I get the 712's on the back? Suggestions?

THANKS!!

EDIT: By "street friendly" I mean something that can be used in dry or wet weather. Something for a near-daily-driver kind of car. I obviously try to avoid driving my car in the rain, but sometimes it happens.

Okay, but Ecsta Supra 712, or the V700s (or whatever that model is called)?

V700's are a great choice - 50 treadware, though, so don't expect to get more than 6K or so on them...
V710's are Victoracer, IIRC, and have less grooving.
Ecsta 712's are not in the same league and inferior to stock Pilot Sports. They don't belong on a Viper, imo.

I have 275/35/ZR18's up front. Try tirerack.com. I dunno if they ship over your way though....

They HOOK very well. Not quite like the BFGs, but they are made for cornering too. 50 treadwear, night and day from Pilots.

I just bought a set of Kumho V700's (all 4) for 17" rims and I got them shipped to my door for $780.00. Visit tirerack.com - they have them in stock!

I cut a 1.68 60' on Kumho Ecsta V700s.

They are by far the best street tire I have ever uded for traction.

I can now punch my Viper in 1st from a roll and rip a 1-2 shift without going all over the road like with the stock Michelins.

Hey guys,

I have a couple of Kuhmo questions too. Any problem putting the v700s on the rear only with Pilots up front? Do you think the Kuhmos will pick up crushed gravel from my driveway?

Thanks

I have Kumhos on the rear and Pilots up front, no problem.

You will pick up rocks, gravel, etc....

As long as you only have them on the back you will be fine.

NO, and yes.

Order some 3M clear tape for around the rear painted section. It's easy to put on, and you can order in sections of 4" wide, 6" wide etc.
