Guys, those of you that road course a lot, which of those two tracks do you find eat up your tires more?

And how many laps or 30 min sessions can stock tires generally take under typical road course use, before they need to be replaced? Same question about Hoosiers?

Thanks,

Manny

Buttonwillow is ******* tires because of the 23 turns, WSIR only has 9 turns but you're cattying more speed. Street tires wear depending on how hard you drive and your alignment, so it's hard to say, when the outsides start to "chunk" you can flip em on the rim and then run em till you chunk the outsides again, then they're trash.

Hoosiers are a different story, you can usually get 12-16 heat cycles (sessions) out of them unless they cord. After 16 heat cycles even if they're not corded they're dead, no resin left in em and they get hard.

Ron, I agree WSIR carries a lot of speed, but I also think WSIR is harder on tires for another reason, being the type of surface. WSIR is very rough.

Compare that to Fontucky, which is silky smooth by comparison. (Almost sensuous!) ;)

Willow Springs is REALLY ******* tires! The worst! Its the surface and also most of the corners are right handers. The left front tire get a real beating.

Buttonwillow is much easier on tires. Harder on brakes.

Pull your sport shims and you will wear the inside of your front tires. Then when your done at the track replace the shims and you will still get plenty of life on the sreet.
I found Willow springs was harder on the tires becouse of the high speed corners. One good spin and it dose not mater what track your at your tires go thump thump thump! Well worth the risk! Go have fun! Do make sure you check your breaks befor you leave home and bring an extra set of pads
If you are an agresive driver. (mainly the front pads)

WHo all is going to the OCT 8th Willow Springs event? I will be there with a couple of friends of mine. I will actually be at the Supras Invade Las Vegas event doing a day of road coursing and a day of drag stripping, so unless something bad happens to the car, I'll be at Willow springs. Wow, that will be 3 events inside of 1 week.

That site only shows events through April of this year. Where are the events for the rest of this year?

I'm in for WSIR on Oct 8th. Tim Herren's group has the next day there, for $125. Superbar, you could do 'em both, and make a record run of back to back events!

Manny, the reason why there are no other dates except April is because the track days are done in 7 consecutive days in the month of April only. It's only a 1 week long event, but some spend allyear preparing to be the top dog. Yes I will be at WSIR on both Oct 8 & Oct 9. :)

I have to agree with Ken. I think WSIR is harder on tires than B-Willow. Streets of Willow is the worst for tire wear.

I hope to make Kailo's event in October.

If you get your car back :D

Manny, REDSLED is right, this is a once a year event, 7 different tracks in 7 consecutive days, race all day, drive all night. 10 different classes, best of the best on the west coast.

Drive all night? I seem to remember us in a lot of bars and casinos at night. :)
