Canyon Cruise October 10th

October 10th – Pa Grand Canyon Cruise​

This is the 5th year for this event. The cruise will start at the Hampton Inn just off Rt. 15 in Williamsport promptly at 9:00. We will cruise from Williamsport to Wellsboro where we will board the Tioga Central Railroad for the opportunity to observe Pennsylvania’s wildlife on an excursion to scenic Lake Hammond (24 miles, 1.5 hours). You will have the opportunity to ride in either the open-air observation car or one of the air-conditioned cars. Secure parking for the Vipers has been arranged while we are on the train. Lunch will be at the Penn Wells Hotel at 1:00. Anyone wishing to drive up to the Canyon after lunch may do so or you can do some shopping in downtown Wellsboro. After the return cruise back to Williamsport, join us in the Susquehanna Room at the Hampton Inn for the “after the cruise party”. There will be a fee for the cruise to help cover the cost of lunch and the train ride. As in the past, there will be security provided to watch over the Vipers through the night. Total drive/cruise miles is about 180.

I was just able to obtain a couple of days extension on the hotel booking date. If you are contemplating attending this event, you have until the stroke of midnight on Sunday, September 13th to reserve a room. If you are unsure of your attendance, it would be in your best interest to book the room NOW. You have until 6 PM on the day of arrival to cancel if you can not attend. This hotel is sold out other than the rooms we still have on hold. It is likely that they will be gone by Monday as soon as the hotel releases what we have not used. Please...act now to avoid being disappointed.

If you were unable to obtain a room at the Hampton Inn for this event, below is a list of other hotels in the area that I would recommend. The Holiday Inn would be the best bet because it is right next door to the Hampton Inn, therefore, overnight parking for their Viper would not be an issue. We can shuttle anyone (with our van) to one of the other hotels which would allow you to leave your car at the Hampton Inn with our security officer.

Ok folks, who all is coming to the Canyon Cruise, I will post the current list I have later today. This is always a great event, and this year should be no exception. This year you can also take advantage of a scenic train ride thru the canyon area while your Viper is parked in a secure location. Let me know if you plan to attend.

Obviously we will be there Carmen.

If those that are coming would like to meet for dinner on Friday night please let me know. I have already made dinner reservations at The Villa for 7 PM for several that already told me they will be there. I need a head count so if you plan to join us please let me know ([email protected] or 607-426-0837). If you won't be able to make it for 7 PM, the restaurant is open until 10 PM.

Also, I need a head count for the train ride so please post here if you plan to attend.
