cigarette lighter not working

My cigarette lighter stopped working today, If it wasn't for charging my cellphone and XM radio, I really wouldn't care. Anyway, I checked the fuse, which was fine. Any suggestions on what could be the problem??? Do these things go bad? Are they easy to replace by yourself?

BTW, I have a 2000 GTS

The positive and negative wire plug onto the back of the lighter "tube". We can check at the AX tomorrow.

In case you are interested, here is what the backside of the cig lighter looks like.

Hot wire to the center and the ground wire goes on the outer tab.
