Da' Dodge Boys say I need a 'special tool' to disconnect the clutch hose from the tranny.

Is this gospel or will a firm grip and maybe slight finess with the plyers suffice?

Is it similar to other quick disconnects like say an air wrench?

The tool looks like a fuel "quick disconnect."
You can carefully use a pair of needle nose pliers to push the inner retainer in. Push the entire hose in and then press the lock ring in and it should release.

Good luck,

Also two very small screwdrivers will push the white retaing clip inward and then push the hose in and pull out.
