I recently got an 04 vert and noticed the trunk is fairly difficult to open. It feels as thought the struts do nothing to aid in opening the trunk but basically only hold it up after I've gotten it to it's high point. Is this common with this car? Is this something that would be covered under the 7yr extended warranty? If not, can I purchase new struts at somewhere like autozone and install myself?

Thanks,

-Kyle

You are lucky they still hold up the trunk after this many years. Wipe a little W D 40 on the shaft. Replacements are O E M $$$$$

Thanks for that. I'll give him a call tomorrow. It seems like Dodge would put a heavier duty strut in there that would actually assist the trunk deck to open rather than just hold it up....

Call Stephen Fenner - I guarantee he will get you straightened out. He is a lift strutt guru!

Mine holds up well but the trunk is not easy to lift. It doesn't pop up like you would think it should. Sounds normal to me.
