Don\'t VOID your warranty at VOI

I have first hand knowledge that you will VOID your warranty on your VIPER if you take it to track events. This includes VOI. Don't let DCX kill the resale value of your 50-80k investment.

Last VOI, Dodge supplies a handful of cars for you to use on the various events. Maybe they will have some there this time also for anyone to use.

First hand knowledge? Dodge sponsor and event and Void the warranty of all cars that participated? Sorry, but that would be "silly". Are you sure you do not work for GM and Lutz put you up to this post as a joke (LOL). The Road Course and Autocross are not "racing" events, so they could not void your warranty. As for the scenic cruise..... well if you were running at our regions Casino cruise in a few weekends... well, never mind

Yes I have first hand knowledge of a Viper with a voided warranty. I was told that any Viper that has evidence of being on a track (No matter if it is racing or not, drivers schools included) will have the warranty voided. I am just letting everyone know about this if something happens to their car they will get the repaired denied and maybe their car flagged in the system.

Actually it's now 35 cents. If you don't want to read what I post here hit the little X in the right corner of your browser.

I am a Viperclub member and have every right to post information that I think anyone who tracks their car would like to know. Well at least the guys with newer cars that care about the warranty. All I am saying is I have had a hard time getting my car fixed for soemthing that could of broke during normal street driving. I love the car but and starting to hate Dodge.

Re: Don\'t VOID your warranty at VOI

Jamz, your info is simply incorrect. Give us names, dates and exactly what you were told. DC recognizes these cars are taken to drivers education track events and has historically approved that kind of activity. Racing is out, but high speed driver's ed? No problem. I had two power steering systems put on my '93 RT/10 until I took pity on DC and installed a proper PS cooling setup.

No way DC can "void" a warranty for a car that is advertised to have high performance and with which DC actually supports a track event. If they tried it would not only be a PR nightmare, but I think they would lose in front of a court or arbitrator.

As for the St. Louis VOI crash, the "armor all" twist is pretty funny. I was there, saw the crash and the story was simple. An individual Skip Barber instructor (contrary to his instructions) took the wheel of a participant's car (instead of riding shotgun and instructing) with the participant's son on board. The instructor wrecked the car badly, spinning it into the turn off the straight and into the infield; fortunately no one was injured. I was told the instructor was fired on the spot and DC stepped up and did the right thing by providing the participant a new 2001 Viper, which I believe was plucked off the line within a matter of hours or days.

That's what you can expect from DC as a result of using Vipers the way they were meant to be used. ON TRACK.

Re: Don\'t VOID your warranty at VOI

Speaking of VOI anyone know if collision insurance would be void if you hit something while doing a VCOA event or racing a 1/4 mile?

Thanks.
