While cleaning the car the other day, I noticed that on the top of the passenger stanchion was cracked on the forward / window side. Hasn't fallen off but has flexed to the point that the structure is gone and the gloss coating seems to be all that is holding it on.

Questions:

Has this happened to anyone?

Does anyone have a theory as to how it happened.

Thanks

You know, I thought that and dismissed it as the door sags and therefore should have extra clearance not less..... However, since the door is sagging and I haven't gotten around to alligning yet, I tend to lift the door as I close it by pushing in and up with my hand low on the door skin. If there is enough slop in the hinge that could very well be it, lifting it too high and wacking the tip. Probably not high enough to hit the body, but high enough to hit the uncompressed weatherstriping and putting enough force on the top of the stanchion to overflex it. It's not very robust there if you examine it.

I hate self inflicted damage! Thanks for the ideas guys.....
